Magtech 7.62x51 M80 Ball Ammo
I recently picked up 400 rounds of Magtech 7.62x51 M80 ball ammo from Palmetto State Armory for 50 cents a round shipped to my door.
Magtech 7.62x51mm 147gr FMJ M80 Ammunition 50rds - 762A
There were some bad reviews on this ammo indicating brass sticking in the chamber. I did run into this with a build I have using an X-caliber barrel, 4 stuck out of 50 rounds.
I was very pleased to report that my P716 has eaten 100 rounds of this without issue. Sig has had this weapon back a few times and on one trip they polished the chamber, this may be why I am not seeing the problem. The ammo is giving me about 2 MOA, not bad considering it is using an Aimpoint PRO and Vortex 3x magnifier combined with fighting through my astigmatism.
It feels good to finally be able to report something positive about my 716!

jtallen83, it sounds better than the experience I had with some CBC ammunition, a few years back. Seems some one (Century?) imported some '75 "surplus", back in the early '90s, that some of the wooden cases, had the words in Spanish meaning "re-engineered". Evidently some of the boys at Knob Creek, lost some weapons when shooting this stuff. IIRC White Labs tested some of this stuff that ran over double proof load pressures.
I had 3 cases, for my M1A, and Fals, I had at the time. I managed to get my money back, IIRC it wasn't "every round", but it would have been like "Russian Roulette" to keep it! I had fired a couple hundred rounds, without incident, prior to the recall, and I figured I had pressed my luck enough!

I must be one of the lucky ones, with my 716
it eats everything and has never failed, and I shoot whatever I can find that is the cheapest, some PPU, Aguila, whatever, have even thought of picking up some steel case.
308 isn't cheap, I can go out and blow up $100 worth of ammo in an hour with that thing.
heck that is a great price, costs me .43 to reload them, not worth it for .50 factory.

I have been debating on ammo for my M1a NM and R700 5R since FGMM 168gr is so expensive. I don't really mind the price when shooting the R700 but the M1a gets expensive quickly. I think I am changing my zero to 200yards anyway and going to 175gr for extra yardage
