Was checking a LGS for some new SD rounds for my 1911, hoping to find Speer GD or Remington GS in 230 gr. JHP/HPJ. All that was available was RGS in 185 gr. HPJ. Couldn't quite bring myself to pull the trigger on those 185 gr. rounds (my "bigger hole" mentality strikes again!) Was wondering if anyone else typically used (or would consider using) 185 gr. as opposed to 230 gr. for SD in .45ACP

I run 185Grain Golder Saber +P's along with normal 230 Grain Sabers 185Grain Corbon Pow'rball Ammo i have mixed stuff in my mags from the talons and t-series to fmj. Nothing with 185Grain is bad, you are going to pick up a bit more speed. And loose a very minor amount of energy on impact, but the speed will make up for that I promise Only issue I can see is if you have setup a custom Recoil Setup meant for 230+ Grain Ammo. Like my Glock 36 I cant run anything lower than 200 Grain for it to function properly. But if you are using factory recoil setup you are golden |

Years ago before Golden Sabers were around, there were test results that showed that the Remington 185 grain JHP +P round was the best performing 45 ACP round for self defense. Following that philosophy, Golden Sabers are pre-serrated, guaranteeing expansion of the projectile. Without performing my own tests, my best educated guess would be that the Golden Sabers will achieve the desired results.

Great prize! Really appreciate it Jeff & Corey...looking forward to using these! These will come with an unexpected benefit. Thought I would need a large pair, but Mrs. Badger insisted on measuring to be certain. Turns out my ears are smaller and I need mediums. Now when she complains that I'm not listening to her I can always say, "Well, ya know hon...it's these little ears I've got!! |

Hey badger, give us some feedback on this product if you get the time. I have some electronic earmuffs, but am interested in SureFire's product. Would you recommend them? | |

I bought a pair from Gander Mountain ($12 + free shipping), and they work great. I keep them in my range/bug-out bag.
