Loaded magazine question

I've been told that keeping a magazine loaded for an extended amount of time damages the magazine spring.

I'm new to firearms so I don't know especially what is true and what is myth.

Can anyone confirm or deny?

If true, what kind of time frame are we talking about that will cause damage?

I have a new 2022 9mm and would like to keep the magazine loaded for home defense. Currently I only have one magazine because everyone is sold out.

Thanks for any help.

It will not damage your spring. It is the constant cycling that wears them out. Even then it would take many cycles to cause wear. Go ahead and keep it full.
