| E2 grips for a P229 (w/ rails) in .40
just got a deal on a used P229 with the rails and i'm looking to swap it over to the E2 grips. thought i'd check on here to see if anyone switched from the E2 grips to something else and wasn't using them anymore. it's chambered in .40 S&W, and it's the pre- E2 version of the P229 with the halfway up cocking grooves on the backside. i've included a picture of how it looks now. let me know what you've got. |

Blacksheep, I think you'll find that you need the entire kit (includes a new style hammer strut and mainspring) to convert to the E2 configuration due to clearance under the E2 grips. I didn't care for the E2 grips or the short reach trigger that came with mine, so I converted to the older style (no problem going that direction). If you're still interested in either the grip or trigger I can help you out, but it will probably be cheaper in the long run to go with the kit rather than to do it piecemeal. Regards, -Stan- |

hey stan, thanks for the reply. i'll do a little research and get back to you. looks like most of the kits for purchase online consist of the E2 grip, a hammer strut, a spring base for the hammer spring, and a tool to help remove the grips. They also say you need to have the newer style mainspring and trigger bar spring. so i'll need to do a parts check on mine, but i'm pretty sure i'll find that i've got the older style of both. The E2 kit on top gun supply is $47, the newer mainspring is $5, and the trigger bar spring is $4. What do you have with the grips, and how much would you want for them? And no, I wouldn't really be interested in the short reach trigger. thanks though. |

blacksheep, I'm willing to part with the wrap-around grip + the removal tool. The gun was purchased new, but the grip had some wear from handling (see attached photo). If $20 shipped sounds fair you're welcome to them. I still think you'll be happier in the long run if you can find a good price on the complete conversion kit, but it's your call. -Stan- |
