SP2022 Concealed Carry

I will be taking my Texas CHL class real soon and I have a question about concealing the 2022. Let me start by saying that I am a large guy (6 foot, 300 lbs) and I was wondering if any other large guys have any problems concealing the 2022. I thinking of carrying in the SOB position but not sure yet. If you CC the 2022 and you are a large guy like me, how do you do it? Any tips would be greatly appreciated.

When I carry my 2022 its with an IWB Holster from crossbreeds, it works pretty well as long as I have a fairly baggy shirt on or a sweatshirt.

I dont have a 2022, but I do carry a P226 sometimes.

I also carry it in a crossbreed style holster with baggy shirt or sweatshirt.

For reference,

6'8" 220 lbs

I am 6' tall and 250. My SP2022 first perfectly in a Balckhawk IWB Size 6. It is perfect and nobody knows I have it. Very comfortable also. The best part is it costs 11.99 plus shipping.

I am glad I came across this thread. I have a SP2022 I got a few weeks back and I love it. I was considering getting a crossbreed for it but wasn't sure. I am 6'2 245lb so I think the black hawk would work for me. Is the blackhawk holster nylon or kydex?

I carry mine in a Blackhawk IWB holster as well and no one has ever said they can see I am carrying which around here might not happen anyway as people seem very used to firearms being carried.

I have decided to try the Desantis SofTuc for the small of the back for summer carry. I wore it today around the house for a while and it was very comfortable and my wife didn't even know I had it on.. The clip was a little tough to get to go over my waistband of my pants but I am thinking of finding a leather snap close belt loop for it like I've seen on other holsters. For the winter I can use my iTac/Sig Roto paddle holster when I wear a jacket. I can almost conceal the paddle with an untucked shirt but it would have to be thicker than I normally wear during the Texas spring/summer times.
Thanks guys for all the input that you all have shared.

During my holster searching I think I seen both from blackhawk for IWB. You can try Home BLACKHAWK! and see the full line up of holsters.

Which DeSantis Sof Tuck holster did you get for your SP2022? I checked their website and they don't offer one specifically for a Sig 2022. Did you get one for another brand that works (e.g., some other holster usesrs noted the 2022 will fit in a Springfield XD 4" holster). Thanks!

I got the one for the springfield xd 4". It fits snug at first but there should be a card with the holster that explains how to break in or stretch to fit properly. Basically just put your pistol inside a dress sock and fully insert the sock covered pistol into the holster and let it rest in the holster for at least 24 hours. You will have to support the slide during insertion because it will push back on you.

Know this is an older thread but thought I'd chime in anyway.

I'm 6'3" and 335 lbs. I carry a few different guns depending on time of year and where I'm going. But i do often carry my SP2022. I keep 'er in an Old Faithful tuck-able IWB (crossbreed like). I also have my carry mag fitted with the euro flat mag base-plate. This helps with cc quite a bit.

Cheers.

Man, you guy's are big, Just kidding.
I'm 6' and weigh 145lbs, and my SP almost disappears with a Desantis sof tuck carried in the small of the back.
Every now and again my shirt will ride up over it, usually if I wear a medium shirt, a large shirt solves this problem, but then again, I'm skinny.
Like Kenny said, the holster is tight on the gun at first, but after a week it was broken in and has only gotten better.
When I first started using the Desantis, I would find that the mag release with get hit on the holster when I sat down, I just trimmed a little of the leather around where the mag release is when it's holstered and problem solved.

Was wondering if you can help me locate the flat base plate you speak of. I have the 2022 9mm 10round. I would like to purchase 3 flat base plates to help with concealment.

Thank you.
