my carry list starts and stops at 9mm, because something the size of a 1911 is not, IMHO a "concealed carry" and, to add my own bias there are no Glocks on the list. I simply don't LIKE Glocks. Ergo, the list, in no particular order. Kahr PM9 Kahr CW9 Sig P938 Ruger LC9 Rorbaugh R-9 Sig P290 Kimber Solo |

I am just starting to look at concelled carry options and for I am interested in size and wieght as my biggest factor. I am fairly sure I will get a 9mm but may go the 380 route. I live in a warm climate and want something I can carry while wearing shorts and t shirts as well as IWB while on my motorcycle. I really like the Kahr for there size and wieght. Not a big Glock fan they just don't feel right in my hand. I like these lists as it gives me some new ideas as to what to look at. I am a big supporter of research and making sure I get the weapon that does what I need it to do. I am lucky enough to have a couple of ranges that I can go and rent these so I can make sure I like them before I spend the money.

The grip is better for me that the PF9 plus I can have 10~12 rounds....depending on the magazine brand or mag-follower modifications. (underside) I have a love/hate thing for Glock. It is ugly.....feels weird in my hands....but I can shoot it accurately. I picked up a new G-19 Gen 4 Saturday on my GSSF Pistol Purchase Discount Card. $425 +/tax. BOB only. Not for EDC. Not much HK love on the lists so I need to put the Hk45c and p2000sk 9mm in contention. Being unbiased in gun preferences is like saying with all due respect before saying something special. |

His #1 lost all credibility. If I had to pick the #1, it would be a G29 with Cor-Bon. If you're gonna carry a .40, you might as well carry a 10mm.

Being an NRA certified instructor is no gold seal of wisdom. It means you've met the pre-assessment (safe gun handling, handling misfires/jams and shoot-in at a certain minimum score) for the course, didn't have a crappy attitude, put in the hours and participation and passed the exam. It's a starting point, not an end point. Is it a worthy exercise? Yes, IMO, if you intend to do some teaching. I've finished my pistol and am going to take the rifle instructor in September and shotgun instructor in October. Also, as I understand it, the NRA's stance on its instructors' offering such advice is to completely explain they are NOT speaking as an NRA instructor when doing so. It's my understanding we are there to teach the NRA course, not go freelancing about with our particular beliefs. My instructors/training counselors, whom I admire greatly for their teaching skills, would say to questions not addressed in the curriculum: "That's not covered in this course, but I'd be happy to talk to you about it during a break or after class if you'd care to." With all that said, I think the man raised some points worth thought. Can't say I agree with every one, but I did stop to think about them. There's a kernel of decent reasoning in each. Re the gent who posted his Bersa pix, I have the same model and really enjoy it. It is not my main HD gun, but I do stoke it with CorBons and would go to it if absolutely needed. I don't know about yours, but mine just gobbles up everything I feed it. Besides, it's a darn fun range gun. And if I shoot the living whiz out of it, I can get another for not a whole lot of money. Anyway, take none of this as anything special. I'm just a guy who likes to shoot. |

I don't think I could come up with a full top 10 list as I've only carried about half a dozen different guns, but one that I carry on occasion that may shock a lot of people is the polymer framed Judge. Also believe it or not I actually find it conceals better than a subcompact pistol as all you have is the curved grip sticking out of an iwb holster. I know it's only 5 shots, but when the first one is the PDX1 410 round you know your going to hit that threat if it happens. Then if that doesn't end the threat you can have the 45 long colt round waiting to really finish it off. The Judge mainly stays in the nightstand though as our home defense gun especially since I travel for work some. My wife doesn't shoot a lot, but she has shot the judge and is comfortable with it and knows that 410 round will hit where she points. Other than that my main carry gun is a Bodyguard 380 in either my bellyband holster or in a pocket holster, but after replacing my Glock 26 with the p250 (2sum) I finally decided to Purchase a nice iwb holster (Crossbreed) as the bellyband's lack of padding makes it uncomfortable after awhile when carrying anything other than the bodyguard (ie; Judge, G26, p250 SC). Just my thoughts and opinions though...... |

I don't have a top ten list, to be honest I don't need one. I have fired few side arms, held hundreds but if I HAD to make list, it would be... 1: Sig P238 .380 2: Sig P938 9mm 3: STI Spartan III .45 4: Kimber Ultra Carry Pro .45 5: Colt 1911 G1 .45 6: Beretta PX4 Storm sub compact .40 it's not ten, but these are sidearms I have fired that felt right in hand (to me) I have held S&W, Springfields, and Glocks but they just didn't feel right. I am in no way begrudging anyone's list here in any way. |

But since you took the time to call me out this is why I would put it at the top of my list ![]() I like to shoot my concealed carry gun as much as possible. Therefore obtaining a G29 would be almost impossible to shoot regularly realistically because of how expensive it is and also how hard it is to find. It is a great round but for the average americano like me.. I will stick with what most Law Enforcement use as a backup. I carry speer 180gr in my G27 everyday on my ankle, i think that will ruin anybodys weekend just as well as a 10mm(if you can find the ammo). For a hundred bucks you can get a 357Sig barrel for the G27 and the 357sig round fits in the same .40 Mag.. a bit more expensive round than a .40 but you wont be looking all over hell to find the round like you would a 10mm. Trust me Siggy I did my homework. I will keep the .40 on the top of my carry list.. Thanks though. [IMG] [/IMG]
