Anyone have any experience or research regarding concealed carry in Foreign Trade Zones?

Even more specifically: on foreign-flag ships that are docked in FTZs?

I enter private refineries and tanking facilities regularly, and I board tankers for a living. Would like to know how close to illegality I'm getting by carrying in these locations.

That's a question for a lawyer. Shouldn't the company you are doing this all for be able to provide you with the answers you need?

I would definitely seek legal counsel on that one.

An inquiry to company officials will likely get a negative response. While companies may not have a policy, if you make an inquiry, they will be compelled to cover their butts because of perceived liability.

I too agree that questions such as yours, requires a lawyer. You don't want to get opinions. You need facts so that you don't want to violate any rules and get yourself in trouble... It isn't worth it.

The company I work for wouldn't openly approve. Not officially. What I do to protect myself they respect, but I can't count on anyone here to facilitate my decision to carry.

I'm just asking in case there's an LEO lurking that has prior experience. I can't find anything in the state or federal laws, the Customs CFRs, or the Coast Guard US Code.

I highly doubt even a local lawyer could answer my question. I'd have to go to a maritime association, at which point I'm broadcasting my intentions - which is why I haven't so far.

I'll post back here if I find anything out.
