If you must use a purse to CCW what do you prefer

Buy a holster purse?

buy a regular purse and modify? (I think I am more inclined to go with this option)

What say you?

Well, I have no personal experiance....

But my wife & I were up in Shelby , Ohio last weekend and that gun store had 8-10 holster purses. My wife who is a small woman all the way around ( 4'11") had trouble getting her peashooter in & out of the purse with the pistol in her hand.

The opening was too small about 7" ( when zipped shut) so when you open it up width wise the measurement shrinks top to bottom, making it difficult to get anything but maybe a 25 - .380 cal mouse in & out. ( she carries a 9mm & refuses to go smaller.....good woman! )

We're looking at finding an IWB holster and fitting into a pocket of one of here purses.

Her concern there is it remaining unseen when she opens her purse to pay for an item or when shes walking around. Being so short every one can look down into her purse if it doesn't have a zipper, hers currently do not ! Evidently they are not the thing....thats how I interpeted to look any way!

I too do not have personal experience... However, I think keeping it on your person via IWB holster, pancake holster, or shoulder rig is a better option. If you lose your handbag (purse snatch, misplaced, put it down for a second and it was gone scenario, etc.), you also lose your gun...

I wholly agree. . . however a lot of women would literally have to change their whole wardrobe to carry on body and are not willing to, thus a purse holster has to be the lesser of two evils.

I wish my lady has this problem. No desire to carry. Maybe one day... Hopefully sooner than later.

Just a practical conversation about the world being not a safe place anymore and since you can put a cop in your pocket all the time you have to take your safety into your own hands

Yeah... I've tried that method before, I think I just have to keep bringing it up every so often. Can't feed her too much info at once or she gets upset with me. She's about to begin work at an elementary school where she wouldn't be able to carry anyways, that isn't helping me at all.

No "personal" experience, but my wife carries.

Back to the original question. I would stress staying away from off-body carry. The weapon needs to be accessible quickly, and with one hand. She may be fending off blows, protecting children, knocked to the ground...

I suggest adjusting the wardrobe to work.

That said, if the only way a lady will/can carry is off-body, that's magnitudes better than not carrying at all!
