Why No Leather For The Newer SP2022s?

I, for the life of me cannot figure out why some of the big holster makers like Bianchi, Safariland, Etc, are not tooling up for the Sp2022s with the 1913 rail. There are a ton of us who have bought them and checking forums I see new owners all the time. No problem getting concealed holsters for my Sig 226 or my H&K P2000. Just one beltslide would be nice and I would buy one in a second. Plastic holsters may be nice if thats what you like but my guns always are carried in leather and I intend to keep it that way.

Try. Dmbullardleather.com. Have some in store holsters with no wait period. Have some plastic and other leather but much prefer bullard's.

Just ordered a Harrier from Kevin at Nightingale. Looks superb with top notch leatherwork.

In general holsters tend to be behind a new gun by 12-18 months. Nature of the business. The holster makers wait to see if there is sufficient interest in the gun and that takes almost a year then who else is in the market, and then design and manufacturing lead time.

If you can put your hands on one at a LGS, try a leather holster for the Springfield XD 4" and see if it fits. Alot of people are finding that the 2022s will fit and leather is slightly forgiving. I have a Desantis soft tuck leather holster designed for the Springfield that fit my 2022 with a little stretching.
Actually being able to handle and test fit a holster at a LGS would assure you that a proper fit over taking a chance buying one online. The dimensions of the XD and the 2022 are pretty close when it comes to holster.

I just got a Galco Silhouette for the Springfield XD that fits my SP2022 with 1913 rail. The thumbbreak was tough to get snapped, but it stretched a bit and is fine now. The holster also fits my P228 & G-23.

Those of you buying holsters for the XD to fit the 2022, just a word of warning. The 2022 has a rounded trigger guard vs the square trigger guard for the XD, I bought a galco king tuk for the XD that fit the 2022 fine for about 3 months until the kydex cracked due to the round trigger guard. I was able to fix it with a blow dryer but just wanted to let you guys know that it is NOT an exact fit.
