Wow!
Good victory for the folks who worked hard to make this happen!

I assumed that Illinois would always be the land of Fascist gun laws, and that only the privileged political class would be allowed to carry firearms......

Outstanding! I will be keeping eyes peeled to see what the realities of the laws are....

That's one win for the pro-gunners!!! Hopefully, one day something similar will happen in California... but I'm not gonna hold my breath.

Living in Illinois all my 61 years I will believe it when I see it.

The politicans in charge here will only pay attention to SCOTUS and even then the restrictions they impose would be so complicated making one jump through so many hoops and so costly it will be almost impossible for the average unconnected citizen. I would imagine gun registration would be part of any CCW effort also here in Illinois. Any minor slip up and then their goes your FOID for life here in Illinois.

Quinn, both Madigans, Cullerton, and Emanuel are vehemently opposed to CCW.

and you have helped us change the law by doing ............what?

I and several thousands of my friends having been working very hard for a long time to get this to happen.

This has been a very well structured attack on three fronts: legislative, judicial and public opinion.

Please, keep sitting on your porch in your rocking chair and tell us how we will never get it done.

By the way, I am older than you and I already have an Illinois concealed carry permit as a retired LEO. I got mine and I am fighting so you can get yours.

The reason illinois is in such sad shape is too many people sit back and claim that nothing can be done, why bother?

As an Illinois resident all my life, I never thought I'd see this happen, and I'm extremely excited about it!
Of course, I still want to move to Tennessee...

Well, I lived in TN the first 21 years of my life. While I was there, however, there was no concealed carry unless one was friends with the local sheriff & could get deputized. It was nice to be able to buy a firearm at such a young age just by showing a drivers license. Of course, when I lived there, one had to be 21 in order to purchase a handgun.
I remember my first trip to a gun store when I moved to IL. I had a pistol picked out & the clerk said "I need to see your FOID card". I asked "what the heck's that?" and was told of IL gun laws & that I couldn't purchase a gun just by showing my driver's license anymore.
As far as what the legislature will decide for us, knowing these crooks they're going to force people to take a class (not a bad idea for some, but for those of us in some type of law enforcement it could be somewhat necessary) and charge a fee for that, then charge a fee for the license & probably require it to be renewed every so often.
Anyhow, i'm hoping for the best.
