| For those with IWB holsters
I passed my written and shooting tests yesterday for my CHL here in Texas and now I need to decide on what kind of holsters(s) to get for my 238. I see many of you use and recommend IWB holsters and I am looking for some feedback. My perception by just thinking about and looking at IWB's is that they are uncomfortable and would be very hot in the Texas Panhandle summers. But perceptions can be very dangerous and way off base. Any particular reason or reasons for choosing an IWB over any other type of holster? |

I carry a SP2022 and I use an IWB holster. With such a large handgun, an OWB holster would be too hard to conceal. A smaller pistol like the 238 in your pic would be easier to conceal with an OWB. My holster is a Blackhawk sportster nylon holster and I don't find it uncomfortable in the summer, I carried it for a 2 day Galveston vacation in July and had no issues with the heat and humidity while carrying. Just be sure to wipe the sweat off your weapon if your holster does not have provisions for keeping the pistol from making body contact. I think that the crossbreed style holsters may cause a heat issue because of all the leather that would make contact with your body, but like you said, "perceptions". So what I am saying basically is, nylon doesn't cause an issue with me. |

How is the size /weight of your SP2022 compared to a Glock 26? (Please forgive my limited knowledge of various firearms). My instructor carries his Glock 26 OWB and that's why I ask. I should have (and still might) talk to him about different holsters. | |

unclemikes nylon iwb is comfortable & has plenty of retention for my g30 after trying several different leather & kydex holsters.

When I carried my 238 on a regular basis I used a DeSantis Dual Carry. It will allow you to carry IWB or OWB if wanted. It has a thumb break for condition one carry.

I use an all leather IWB made by Stoner Holsters which I like. Can't beat the smell and feel of real leather! I can imagine it being a bit hot for all day use in Texas however. Here in Ohio not so much of a problem. My concern with an OWB would be printing through a Tee shirt which is what I usually have as a warm weather cover. I stayed away from IWB holsters for a while as I had trouble envisioning how to fit my body and a pistol inside my Levis. Stoner had a sample that I could try and I found that Levis stretch more than you'd think. This set-up is for a .45 Kimber Ultra Carry. My recently acquired Sig P290 is being held in an ankle holster for now. Whether you go IWB or OWB make sure to get a good heavy duty belt.

I carry my p250sc (very similar to a Glock 26) in a crossbreed iwb holster and don't even realize I have it a lot of times because it's so comfortable. I've carried for 10-12+ hours without any issues. I also have a p290 with laser that I carry in a belly band holster that isn't quite as comfortable, but is a tad easier to conceal especially in the summer.

I can see how an IWB carry would be less noticeable. And I can understand how it would be very hard (perhaps impossible) to find a "one size fits all" holster. Again I appreciate all the feedback. |

For a little thing like that I would just toss it in my pocket with a uncle mikes pocket holster.

Be prepared to purchase lots of holsters, I have about 10 for 1 gun and 3 of which I use. I like the hybrid style IWB, since the leather stops my body from sweating all over my gun. I live in southern Florida and it gets very hot and humid. A holster should be comfortable but compared to defending my life, I will sacrifice comfort for having my sidearm of choice always with me.

Have you thought about putting that 238 in a pocket holster - either front pocket or wallet type holster?

i'm using a horse-hide/kydex iwb holster made by old-faithful, it's really nice and comfortable, plus the molding is made specifically to fit the exact model of firearm you have. it really does make toting my P229 a breeze.

look at winthrop holters. Good stuff, comfortable and resonably priced. I have one of their IWB holsters for my 1911 and my wife has one for her .380. We both think they are great holsters. |

I like my Remora (actually for my 239), and my n8-squared for my 238. Both very comfortable, and not too bad in the Arizona heat.

Don't know if they have it for your pistol yet, but worth checking with N82 Tactical - check their IWB Professional holster. I'm using them for my M9, PF9, and Glock 26. Full leather against the body. Kydex on the outside with a simple retainer feature. |
