Concealed Carry Phenomenon with Sub-Compact

When you shoot a Sub-Compact version of a pistol you are familiar with, do you experience less recoil and less muzzle flip as compared to the full size version of the same pistol / caliber?

It sounds counter intuitive, but that is what I experienced. Am I Crazy ?

Generally one would expect to experience more recoil and 'whip' in a smaller pistol compared to a larger pistol of the same chambering. Although design and grips can have a huge effect on what is preceived by the shooter. Recoil is not just about footpounds of energy back to the shooter, it can be preceived differently by different people.

You may be able to get an excellent grip and as a result precieve less recoil but physics generally says otherwise.

Science will support the exact opposite; i.e. less weight, same force (ammo), will equal greater felt Recoil, and muzzle rise / flip.

It is possible, that when firing the sub-compact, that you become more focused, and exert greater grip pressure which could trick

you into a lesser sensitivity to the recoil. That or you could be Crazy.....

From my experience, I felt more recoil with the smaller sized gun (i.e. Officers Model 1911 and full size 1911)... The Officers Model definitely had more of a snap than its big brother, the full size 1911.

Usually smaller gun/barrel = more recoil and muzzle rise. At least thats the way it has been in my case.
