Crossing the Line

I myself, and most other Baby Boomers prefer a leather holster. I've used leather all my life. However, I'm ready to try a Kydex.

Any thoughts and info on who makes the best would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

It is hard to beat a good quality leather rig, but I like this one:

https://www.tacticalholsters.com/product/inc2.html

I've gone through a BUNCH of kydex holsters and have come to really like this b/c of the way it is made. Travis Haley put a lot of thought into designing this thing, and I think it is the best IWB holster on the market today. G-Shock also makes nice OTW rigs as well.

I am an admitted holster snob, always bought the best name brands and paid plenty while waiting months for my holster. They were always great holsters, looked good but who ever sees and IWB holster and unless you open carry who sees an OWB.

I had a few Kydex for my game guns, but recently I changed my shooting hand from lefty to righty so I had to replace holsters and have done so with Kydex. I like BladeTech holsters and wear them now IWB and OWB. I did buy two nice leather holsters for two 1911's I own and do open carry when at work in the shooting center where I work P/T.

Give Kydex a try, bet you like them.

Blackpoint Tactical makes the Legion Holsters for Sig. I had them make me a brown Kydex for my FDE G20 molded with a SF X300 light. I also had a 229 with X300 Holster made and it's good quality stuff. They seem to have most of the weapon lights and guns I use available for accurate molding. They also offer a variety of colors in their Kydex.

They aren't especially fast since they are small and do a lot of work for Sig, expect 4-8 weeks. They are in Georgia, and I have talked to them...nice people to deal with.

Clinger holsters, They place the belt clip where it will hold the butt of the gun against your body. Takes about three weeks to arrive.

I go with KT Mech all the time. They make great kydex with a 2 week lead time. Most other places, that are good too, will quote 8-12 week lead time. Not KT Mech. Always 2 weeks (or less) and they have an option for a priority build for $17.99 and will guarantee a 3 day lead time (usually less). They make concealment, pancake, duty, chest and mag holsters. They can also be configured to accept G-Code RTI, Safariland QLS and Blade-tech attachment points. Making it easy to have one holster mount on LBE vest, battle belt, car etc...

I must admit that I only have one. I have been carrying for under a year also. I did a bit of homework and settled on the Onyx by Stealth Gear USA. Since I bought it they have come out with a few other versions some more $ and some less $. Overall I am extremely happy with it. It is very comfortable to wear and once I got a good belt I don't notice it much at all. Carry a p239 9mm IWB. I am a Chef and carry everyday. The ONLY complaint that I could even try to muster up is that after a few months of very hot summer sweat I noticed a foul smell and figured out it was my holster. Took it apart ran in through my home dishwasher like I would a baseball cap and let it air dry. Done. It is a little pricey but to this point it was well worth the money.

Garrett Silent Thunder for leather lined Kydex, Ozark Holster, JM Custom Kydex are all terrific from my experiences.

I have three of the Ozark kydex IWB holster and love them. The clip is secured at the top of the holster just above the belt which holds the pistol tight to my side. Holster is no bigger than it needs to be.

BTW I am a baby boomer and never preferred leather LOL.

Very nice.
Lead time is about 2 weeks.
