Question Siglite Nightsights

I just got my Siglite night sights in today and before I have them installed I have a question. Exactly how bright are they supposed to be? Is the green glow only visable in the dark? I purchased these from a place called Pro X Arms. Same price as TGS but with free shipping. I asked how old they were when I ordered them online and the guy said it had been a month since he got them in from Sig. I know they are good for 10 to 12 years but I am concerned that they might have been some old stock. They glow in total darkness but have no appearance to glow in indoor lighting. I have never used them in the past so this is something new to me. I just want to make sure that they are functioning like they are supposed to or do I need to return them.
If anyone can capture them on film and post a pic that would really be appreciated.

They are not so brite as to take away from your own eye's night vision. Night sights are ment as an aid in aligning the sights and will not project any significant light, meaning, there is now way you will be able to use them to get the key in the door.

Ok, great. Thanks for the rapid reply. I didn't know how bright they would be. Looks like I need to make a trip to the local gunsmith.

the problem is if they're too dim, they diminish in brightness as years go by.
I"m sure you got them from a reputable place.
but there are sellers out there that will sell you sights that are already several years old.
I don't have night sights for my SIG yet, but did get some for my carry 1911, Trijicons did okay for that.

Thanks for your reply. I compared my nightsights to ones on a brand new Sig and mine are just as bright. I was concerned because I had never used or seen nightsights in person before I purchased them.

Kenny - Your night sights will not appear visibly green in natural or artificially lighted room. In this case they will appear as white dots
