Could use some weapon light suggestions for new P226 TacOps

I picked up a new P226 TacOps this week and wanted to put a weapon light on it. I'm not sure if I want to go with a light/laser or simply a light only.

I want to fit properly and securely and I'd leave it on there for range sessions, too.

I would appreciate in knowing what you've used in the past and what you'd recommend today.

Thanks

If you don't want to spend large amounts of money I'd go with either the TLR-3 (light only) or TLR-4 (light & laser). I have both and am happy with them.

TLR-4 on my SP2022

Surefire is probably the most popular, but the Streamlight TLR series of lights are good. I don't know if the XC-1 will mount securely and flush to the 226, but it is something to consider. It is a fantastic CQB light for anyone.

It all depends on your price range. For me it would be a choice between a streamlight TLR2 and a Surefire X400. I have a TLR2 and it works well. The Surefire seems better constructed but that comes at a price. The TLR2 is around $250 and the X400 closer to $400.

If you want an inexpensive option, go with the TLR4. I like having a laser if nothing else for when I change sights. I sight the laser, swap sights and use the laser to confirm my sights are aligned.

I personally like the Inforce APL. I have one on my edc because the activation switch is easier for me since I have short fingers. They can be found for about $140 and they just came out with a 400 lumen gen 3. The downside is there are less holster options than the TLR or X300 which is why I have a TLR-1 on my duty weapon. Surefire and Streamlight are great products but I just find the Inforce to be quicker and easier to use.

I have the INFORCE APL and can vouch for it. It is another nice option, and perhaps better than Surefire and Streamlight in terms of weigh and controls. I like it a lot!

I really appreciate everyone's insight.

Thank you.

For some reason, I thought there may be fitment problems finding one that would mate up to the rail config that Sig uses. Sure is reassuring to see you are having great results with the models you've shown.

I have an Inforce APL on my P320 and MK25. Really like the light and will probably stick with that for any other handgun I get. The controls are easy to use and it didn't cost too much.

Surefire XC1. Small and lighter. Also the 200 lumen flood beam is fine for a pistol. If that is too pricey then the Streamlight TLR1. The Surefire X300U/X400 are just too large/long in my opinion, however may fit well on a P226, not to mention almost double the price of a Streamlight.

If you're looking for a compact solution, I highly recommend the new Inforce APL-C over the Surefire XC1 due to the layout of the controls. If you don't mind a larger light, I prefer Surefire for their outstanding customer service/warranty. I don't care for lasers anymore.

Viridian X5L Green laser and light

Inforce APL, Surefire XC1

Surefire X300U-B vs XC1

Surefire X300U-B

The Streamlight TLR-1 HL is a good, solid performer and is very bright. Another advantage is that pretty much everyone who makes a light-bearing holster for your gun will make one for the TLR-1 and the SureFire lights.
