What Meprolight sights for P239?

I have a P239 in .40, however I am purchasing the 9mm barrel to drop in from TopGun.

My question is this, I want to put night sights on this gun and for the 40 they recommend the #8/#6 combination. With a recommendation of #8/#8 for the 9mm.

Do I purchase the sights for the 40 or 9mm?

Which do you plan to shoot the most .40 or 9mm? If it was me I would choose the set for which caliber I would shoot the most and adjust my aim for the other.

I plan on shooting 9, I have gone thru and thinned my heard to be all 9mm, for the most part, as I reload and trying to cut down on switching calibers.

Anyway if the 9mm barrel proves extremely reliable I will not switch back to .40 even if I carry this, I will carry it as a 9mm.

What is the difference between a #8 and #6 sight. Does the number refer to the height of the sight?

Yes. I would go with the 9mm recommendation. But that's my opinion. You may want to contact the people you purchase the sights from for a professional opinion.

I regularly shoot .357sig out of my 40 caliber Sig 229 an 239. Both have the 40 sites mounted. At close distances it's really not that much of a concern. At 25 yards + you'll notice a difference. Never affected me on the 7 or 15 yard ranges.

If you are consolidating why not just trade it for a 9mm?
