2022 Holster

Hey Crowd.....
Having just transitioned back to the Sig platform from an M&P I've been searching for a holster for my 2022. I owned a German one a few years ago and my son adopted it and moved to AZ. It was replaced with the M&P. While the M&P is a great pistol I just couldnt get use to the striker platform.
I found this site in my search for a holster. Since the 2022 has changed enough that the XD9 holster no longer fit the options have been kind of slim. I don't like the nylon holsters so my options are custom kydex or leather. "Good" custom leather is pricey and not in my budget yet so Kydex was my only option. I found just what I was looking for at PJHolsters.com
paul does both IWB and OWB. for the newer SP2022 at a good price.
I have no relationship with this company other than being a happy customer and wanting to share a source for the 2022.

Can you post a pic of your new 2022 holster? I looking around for something to carry my 2022 9mm in. We'd love to see it.

Thats the one zed.
I have one for the M&P and the one for the 2022 is on it's way.
Sorry I didn't post a pic yet. I'm a little computer challenged.......
As soon as I figure it out I'll post one.

Speaking of holsters I have been using a galco king tuk IWB kydex holster made for the Springfield XDM 9mm but fits the sp2022 just fine. The only issue is that if you do NOT decock and reholster, the trigger is NOT protected by the trigger guard but as long as you make sure to decock before you reholster (which I think is how you're supposed to carry DA/SA sigs anyway) the kydex trigger guard is just fine. Additionally, the chamber loaded indicator can sometimes get stuck so I had to burn off a tiny bit of the kydex in that area as well. Here was the youtube video I found that convinced me to get a galco.

Galco Leather Kydex IWB holster for Sig SP2022 - YouTube

I was able to buy 2 galco king tuks (one for the XD/sp2022 and another for my G23) on sale at palmetto state armory a while back for about $40 and change with free shipping so it was pretty cheap. I think they are normally around $50+ now.

Another option is to make your own kydex holster. One of the guys on the SP2022HQ forum that grew from this one posted how to make your own kydex holster to fit your specific pistol configuration (e.g., laser, etc.). Worth checking out.

As a side note (no pun), other than with a heavy coat or very loose sportcoat or sweater in winter, I don't see how you guys are wearing your SP2022 as CC and not having it print. I've tried OWB, IWB, and there is no way I don't have a huge bulge on my side (2 to 5 O'clock positions), let alone the obvious grip sticking out. I'm 6'1", 180 lbs, and no way can I get it hidden. What's the secret?

With you being tall and slender I can see how it may stick out. I on the other hand am quite heavier than you (6' & 300lbs) and with a broad set of shoulders, my shirts drape off of my shoulders creating a good hiding spot for my IWB holster. Also I wear my shirts un tucked. If I am printing at all by accident, no one has ever said anything to me.

I am a big animal: 6'6" 290 lbs with broad shoulders and long arms (God I feel like if am selling something here)

Anyways, here is the picture with the shirt down. This is a JcPenney regular polo shirt.

When I have my arms down, you can not see anything. Also, please note how the grips are closer to the body in the previous picture.

My Blackhawk Serpa 2 for the P226 was highly visible

I found a decent (not perfect) holster, leather, OWB from Tagua that works. It says it's for a P229/228, but it fits my new model SP2022 fine. Here's a pic just of the gun in the holster, not of me wearing it. I'll try to get a decent pic and post it for your viewing. Btw, the model number is BH3-420, black, right side.

I've always wondered about the 228/229 holsters.

That one looks good except for me and the other South Paws...if them make a Lefty version, I'd want to cut away a little where the thing will contact the mag release button to prevent unintended ejections of the mag.

In this case, tho, as you point out here, leather is the friend of the SP2022 owner, since leather holsters are more forgiving of slightly different dimensions.

They make them in left hand, and also in brown leather.

Here is the link directly to the model number at Taguagunleather.com

This is what I am considering. Its a little pricey at $75, but I like the offset clip so it keeps the slim profile.

Check out the OWB holster by Tagua, product code BH1-430; it is designed for SP2022 and SP2340 pistols. It's only $44.99.
