What quality gun safes would you recommend for 1-2 hr fire protection and thief deterrent? Been online this morning and had no idea there are so many manufacturers making gun safes. Thanks. |

Well when I was looking around for one you are right there are alot to choose from for sure, but after doing some research I bought a liberty Colonial and really like this one . I figure it is the best value for the money you can check them out online and you tube and the best warranty around and they also give you a mail in rebate to .. good luck in your search..

| I know what you mean and to top it off the sales people are just like used car sellers, used on Sundays to go to Church. From what I've noticed, most all have close to the same fire ratings. The difference is strength. They all claim they can open each others with a can opener,Humm, You have the Chinese and domestic and I know which way I'm going there. They can not even agree on metal thickness and strength. Some say gage others say the measurement ie: 1/4 or 1/8,of what, who knows. There is a BIG spread in the prices too. Some say Winchester,Ft Knox Sentury. I still don't know and I'm looking to upgrade.

The best advice I was given about a gun safe was, buy one twice as big as you think you need - or later buy a second.

Fort Knox and Liberty. Liberty also makes safes for Cabela's, and often can be found cheaper than the comparable Liberty models. |

Do you want a safe for long guns and pistols or just pistols? I have only pistols, and purchased a 2.3 ft3 First Alert safe from Wayfair (free delivery) for around $300. It is fireproof (700 degF for 1-2 hrs) and waterproof.

I bought a combo Rifle/pistol safe from Sportmans guide (Sentry) in 1998 for $150 which I thought was a lot, then! Traditional combo-fire proof for 1.5 hours! Ammo keps in a secure lockable Kobolt cabinet (Not fire proof, wahoo!) all lag bolted to the walls/floor. If you're not thinking of a secure place for your ammo, PM me with your address where stored, it's worth more than the gun and isn't traceable! |

I just bought a superior master series 50 cu ft. Happy with the quality of it, when compared to others. ImageUploadedByTapatalk1362234954.647295.jpg |

Liberty is a great product at a fair price. Also get it big enough to meet your needs down the road 7-10yrs.

I agree with the notion of buying double what you need. I bought a 1cubic foot SentrySafe figuring issue the top shelf for ammo, and could keep 1-2 guns on the bottom shelf. Needless today, it's pretty tight in there, particlarly since i came to the realization that i will likely buy more handguns down the road. I wish now I bought a lot more space, probably would have if I was a home owner. I anticipate making the Sentry an ammo safe exclusively at some point and getting a larger, firesafe safe for handguns and ammo. You will get what you pay for. Th Sentry cost me about $80, and it is an $80 safe. It will do the job, but it certainly isn't fancy or ripe with features, and someone with the will to break into it will probably figure out a way. |

Anyone own one of the Big Horn gun safes that Costco sells? How would you recommend handling lighting in a 19cf safe? Thanks.

Don't forget to bolt it to the floor. Also, bolt to a wall, preferably in a corner and secured to two walls, also! Many successful thefts involve removing the entire safe and opening up in a location away from the site of theft! sent from my rotary dial phone using tapatalk2 | |
