How else are you going to carry your ammo, eye protection, ear protection, extra magazines, etc.? So much easier to carry it all in a range bag than in your arms.

They are indispensable. I go so far as to have one for rimfire, one for shotguns, and one for center fire.

I usually carry spare mags and extra guns in supplied gun cases that came with them. As close as I have to a range bag is a digital desert camo backpack that I keep my ammo and cleaning gear in plus a few pieces of survival gear just in case there's ever one of those "get outta dodge" moments! but that backpack sure gets heavy with 7-8 hundred rounds of assorted 9mm and 45 rounds packed into it! |

There's no doubt you need one. You'll look pretty silly carrying a plastic shopping bag with your high priced gun and gear in it. Look at Sig Sauer's site and the Midway site for 2 good choices in Range bags.

In truth, I have seen people "mexican carry" their guns to the range..... Mags in their pockets, ear protection hanging from their neck and eye protection on their foreheads... I want to look a BIT more like I know what Im doing

I have two. One I use for handguns and the other for rifles/shotguns.

Anybody own one of the Sig pistol range bags from their site? I'd like to know how well it works and how well it is made. I have a Bulldog bag that is built of heavy duty material but is a bit small. Thanks in advance for any help |

Thanks for the explaination of a murse. My question wasn't "do I need a range bag", The question was "Anybody own one of the Sig pistol range bags from their site? I'd like to know how well it works and how well it is made." Its a given that I need a range bag but the Bulldog bag is small for my needs and I wanted to know if the Sig bag was a heavy duty quality bag. Thanks |

I found the SIG bag to be very frustrating. Lots of zippers that don't work well and flexible sides that collapse. Types of range bags are a personal choice and there are lots of sizes and styles. My personal favorite is from MidwayUSA. If you have the opportunity to visit a store that carries various bags, that's the best option so you can handle them. If not, then you'll have to take your chances with an online purchase. Don't forget YouTube. Lots of range bag reviews to see. Good luck. |
