Almost bought a Sig Romeo 4b optic today
I came so close to buying one of these Sig Romeo 4b optics today...
I actually had never heard of this optic before yesterday. But, I saw mention of it online yesterday, and I watched some video reviews. Today, I went to a local shop, and I happened to see that they had several in stock.
I played with the Sig Romeo4b for about 20 minutes. I like the 50,000 hr battery life. It shuts itself off after a while, and then back on when you pick it up. Online tests show it to be waterproof.
Usually, I can't do red dots because of my eyes. I see a phantom dot next to the real dot. That's why I have gone with Mepro 21T optics so many times. I have 3 rifles with the Mepro 21T now. And, I've owned 3 rifles in the past with that same model on them. So, I've actually owned 6 different Mepro 21T's over the years.
The Mepro reflex sight seems to work better with my eyes. But at 100 yards, I have a little harder time shooting a decent group (50 yards, no problem) than I do with a nice red dot. I have missed using a red dot, because I used to shoot very tight groups before this eye issue developed. But as I get older, this dot issue gets worse for me.
Anyway - it seemed like the Romeo 4 gave me less issues than other red dots. I even mounted one a gun there at the shop and checked it out. Then, I went home and did some more reading, and I took my Rock River PDS back to the shop with me. I put the Sig Romeo4 on my gun and checked it out for about 10 min. I ALMOST bought it - , but it's still not perfect for my eyes, in that I still sometimes get that phantom dot issue. I also wished the glass was slightly bigger than 20mm. Out of all the red dots I have tried over the last 5 years, I think it probably worked the best for my eyes. But in the end, I changed my mind and decided not to get it, as this issue still bugged me.
I REALLY would like to have 1 rifle set up with a different optic for once. But, I guess I'll be sticking with the Mepro 21T on all my long guns, after all. The Mepro 21 is supposed to hold the zero even after being removed and put back on. But, I'll double check it the next time I hit the range.
