These are some nice grips, reminiscent of the old school checkered 220 grips. My hands will stick to these for sure! After some deliberation, I decided to get a set of the Hogue G10 grips for my 239. Still have yet to try them at the range but I fully expect to be pleased. I personally think they are much better then the soft rubber grips and they offer a much improved gripping surface than the factory grips.
Hogue G10 Extreme grips for the 239 in Matte Black
Just had my first range session with these grips and all I can say is "Fabulous". The grip's precise checkering provides for a rock solid grip without discomfort. I don't think my hands shifted at all while firing. With the 239 I felt that I had better overall control with the new grips vs. the standard factory which can have a somewhat smooth feel. I would imagine that some may be thinking "Are they worth it?" All I can say is for me they are worth every penny because they performed as I had hoped they would. A bit expensive, yes, but I am satisfied and would do it again. A pair of these G10 grips may go well with the 245 if they are made for that model.
I was also lookig to vet two additional mags and that also worked out well. I can feel that in comparison to the new mags my older mags have smoothed out considerably. The new ones sitll have a slight rough feel to them. I believe the roughness is due, in part, to the phosphate coating. I have never experienced this with blued or nickel plated mags which are much soother from the get go. To accelerate the mag break in I would just load 5 rounds per mag, this made me move through more load/unload cycles. Since most of the roughness was at the top of the mag, it was nt necessary to load the entire mag.
Last on the testing for tonight was a couple of mags for my 245 that received an overhaul, new springs and followers. I got the mags for nothing but they were well used and in need of new springs, they couldn't even lift the slide stop. I also installed new metal followers in place of the plastic ones. Result two more fully functional and reliable 6 round mags for my 245.
Sounds like a Win Win deal for You reliable... Those grips are nice...
