10/22 Mods?

Well the family bought me some Bass Pro gift cards for Christmas. I picked up my first 10/22 with them yesterday. Any must do mods? I love to tinker on guns.

Normally I would agree, but I bought this thing to customize. I'm thinking about picking up the Magpul X-22 stock and a Kidd trigger kit.

Hard to mess with time proven perfection although the bx trigger package makes a nice difference.

I grew up with the Marlin Model 60 but man those BX-25 mags looked like too much fun to pass up.

I bought the BX-25 mags, but they prevent what I consider a proper shooting stance, so I grabbed a bunch of 10 round mags on sale later.

I did get some softer recoil buffers to tone down the "clack" when I'm running it suppressed.

I pretty much replaced everything on mine except the receiver.

Hubcap91, they are as bad as 1911s and ARs for "Bells and Whistles", but then again their .22s, so go wild and have fun. By the way, Ruger also have some shorter 15 round "Banana Clips" if the 25 round magazines are too long. The one I've got, has been around for about 38 years. Still the same barrel, still groups well considering the thousands of various rounds it has eaten without a hic cup!
Enjoy your new "Toy"!!

There is a mod to end the need to use the lever to close the bolt.
It was a must for me.
While I was installing it, I dismantled the trigger, and just lightly polished the contact points.
I tried the aftermarket trigger package, and myself trigger feels very good now compared.

I tried using a Drexel to modify my own part. Never got it to work quite right, so I bought the 10.00 part, and it works great.

My 10/22 is a Charger. I put a Vortex Razor red dot on it.
I am thinking of putting a can on it next.
I am hoping Trump and Congress end the tax stamp on them, so I am waiting to see.

Ha. Have a few of these and as was stated earlier, not sure much is left to mod. Just buy it all:

10-22 mods? It's one of the most modded guns out there!! And for good reason An inspired design but how accurate do you want it? A site called rimfire central will provide hours of reading and how-to.

People buy a 10-22 for a few hundred and often spend much more than the purchase price is upgrades .

Mine (earlier metal receiver) has a tactical solutions threaded barrel, loctite barrel fit, head space, radiused bolt, adjusted replaced sear and hammer, added bushings to pivots, mod for slide release, recoil buffer, hole in rear of receiver for cleaning, bedded stock w/ free float barrel, and much more I'm forgetting. And my CZ 452 American (bolt gun) is still more accurate and my go-to suppressed anti-squirrel gun in the back yard - where a crawl away means they can get into a rock retaining wall and die. They have to all be clean kills or we deal with the odor.

But, the 10-22 beats all for minute of tin can plinking!

The Ruger BX trigger for $65 is a heck of a deal and a very decent trigger for the money.

I picked up a 10/22 for $199 from Sportsman's Guide.

I modified the bolt release which is a must. Added the BX trigger, magpul stock, PWS T3 mag release, EGW extended rail and a Nikon Prostaff EFR.

Left the rest alone. Got Rifleman at a Appleseed winterseed shoot with it on the first AQT.

This is it with Tech sights, but my old eyes needed the Nikon. The one behind it is a 10/22 in a M1 Carbine stock, fun shooter.

Here's one with the Nikon.

I like the Magpul ODG. I'll probably end up ordering one. After its first range session yesterday I ordered a Kidd extractor.

That magpul stock is pretty nice, it's not precision but I'm not shooting 150-200 yard competition with it and if I was I'd be changing the barrel out before that.
