I started with a Mohawk Armory stripped lower. They are a local shop that machines out thier own lowers and a few other parts for ARs. I had them cut with a laser my custom Tennessee 3 Star ( from our state flag) and inserted 458 SOCOM.

I do have my Complete 458 upper on order with Rock River Arms. It should be here in about 2 weeks.

I did use a Magpul trigger guard.

I also do my own trigger jobs to a short 4-5lb pull

I used the RRA lower parts kit ot build the lower. I went with an A2 stock due to the kick of the 458.

Here is where I am at the moment.

I do not know a whole lot about AR's but I can certainly tell this is a very cool build. A couple more threads like this and you guys will having me build one myself. Maybe this section was a bad idea.

I have a couple of questions. What sort of special tools are required to build an AR platform? And do you need any special or additional parts when doing a trigger job? Learning is fun, learning about guns is awesome

A few things about the 458 SOCOM.

You use the AR15 lower and even use the 223/5.56 magazines, I tjust uses a diffrent upper is all.

Here is a good image to show the ammo in size VS the .223

I recommend the Magpul MIAD grip. It's adjustable so you can tailor it for your hand. It really made a difference in the feel of the AR that I built for myself. I too used a RRA complete upper.

I look forward to seeing the progress of the build.

Been re-doing my lower. Yes its a Magpul hoe.

A Geissele trigger is all I'm waiting on.

Nothing wrong with being a Magpul hoe.

This looks awesome. The .458 setup might actually convince me to get an AR platform!
