Frame Painted?

has anyone here ever had their frame painted? And if so where did you have it done, what did they use and how did it turn out and hold up?

I've heard of protective coatings being sprayed on like paint, in different colors, for metal parts. The SP2022 has a polymer frame... I haven't heard of anything for the polymer frames.

Just out of curiosity what color would you have your frame painted if you could find someone who does that? I want my slide blasted to create the two tone look but my wife suggest that I keep it black. (she doesn't want me spending the money)LOL

Coatings like duracoat can be applied to polymer, see i on glocks all the time. You can get the kits for single color duracoat for less than 30$, and it has everything needed, from cleaner to sprayer.

I've been playing with the idea of doing my 226 frame OD.

I've refinished a couple of old 870p with a product called Alumahyde from Brownells. It's tricky but turned out well on metal. Not sure how it would work on polymer.

Good luck.

I've never personally used this company, but have seen their work because they're at my local gun shows and the work looks good and seems durable.

I do believe aluma hyde works on polymer just fine. I saw one example of a Zytel polymer Ruger 22/45 frame done in olive drab alumahyde with detailed instructions. Let me know if you want a link. My LGS said he could cerakote a poly frame.
