| SP2022 slide stop modification?
Was just wondering if anyone has 'modified' their slide stop on their SP to prevent the slide from traveling forward after the last round? I know this has been a topic of discussion on the net and the solution is to adjust your grip but I have a different take-Make the gun your own! I'm definitely gonna brainstorm this one and come up with my own solution if none come about. If someone has done it I sure would like to see it before I start to maybe get a different approach.

My recommendation is to figure out why, mechanically or ergonomically, your slide stop is not working properly and correct it. Modifying the slide stop is not the answer and would possibly void the warranty should you send it to Sig to fix a mechanical issue. If it it ergonamic only (your grip) then you should adjust accordingly. Practice until muscle memory allows a grip that unconsciously works every time.

The slide stop works just fine I'm a 1911 guy and have the high thumb syndrome so from time to time on the last shot my thumb hits the slide stop without realizing it-it's all me not the gun.I was just thinking of a way to modify the end a little to help avoid it.Not talking a hatchet job just a little filing on the end of the stop but yeah, this is no 1911 and a different animal so a different grip hold would do.I hear ya on the warranty part too.

I too am a thumbs high and forward shooter. I started shooting Sigs before shooting a 1911 so I have not had the same issue. I will say, though, I do have to concentrate more when shooting my 239. All my other Sigs give me no difficulty. I am trying to focus on the (I'm right handed) right thumb being more of an "around and over" the left thumb vs just over to avoid contact with the slide stop. Not saying it's easy, just know I need to adjust a little.

I've figured it out and it was an easy fix something I should have paid more attention to and feel like a dummy that I didn't-swap the grips! Hey what a genious idea ha! I had gotten so comfortable with the other set that had come installed with the gun I hadn't even given the other pair a chance but when I did it pulled my whole hand forward just enough to allow that thumb to sit perfectly under the slide stop and almost but not quite touching the decocker-perfect Geez sometimes the smallest things that we overlook or turn a blind eye to make the biggest difference....This is my first Sig so I have an excuse.Maybe? Don't think so? No? Ok,I can chalk it up to the brain fart syndrome |
