But before these plans, I plan to go to the movies with a girl that I crushed hard on in early 2010, and lost contact with until very recently. she is very pretty, wish me luck! |

Oh man, is this trigger bar a b****! prolly cause im using all hand tools, since im too poor for some advanced techno-gizmo like a micrometer or anything that runs on electricity =P I've finally gotten done using a file to grind this piece of metal down to proper thickness for a trigger bar, I already have it roughly shaped (siloette sorry spelling), so all I gotta do is bend the lil piece in the back that goes under the FCU and into the hammer, carve out a groove so the metal can get in there and not just hit the frame of the FCU, then I have to drill a small hole and carve a groove (im not crimping too much work lol) so I can get the trigger bar spring in there, carve a lil hole for the trigger but before I carve this second, precision demanding hole, I will have to make the new trigger. For that I bought a cheap steel mailbox for like 15 bucks. The metal isnt as hard, I feel like with a lil bit of effort I can bend flat pieces using my hands. That will make it easy to work with. I dont need it to be tough, I just need a good couple shots out of it to make sure the mechanism works, and I plan to use something anodized black for the finished product. (or maybe taking a mold of it with some plaster and melting some black kydex in it?) Woe is me, I can't get that all done today, and I work tomorrow, at a job 2 hours driving one way there, and 12 hours posted after that... *sigh* no free time for me. v_v |

Well lucky me, something I had thought of earlier, consulting a jeweler, turned out to be the correct course of acting after all. Not for making new parts like I was thinking, but for the tools and know how needed to carve such small designs. here is my new trigger bar, just gotta put the holes in it and I'm one step closer to victory Last edited by Hypersprocket; 05-10-2012 at 12:50 PM. making the trigger is gonna be the real pain, much more precision oriented what with fitting it in the FCU and into the trigger bar at the same time...

PICTURES! I work in a jewelry shop, so I've got molding equipment and I could probably spin cast steel.

Oh man I'm sorry guys, I forgot to mention that I found a guy who did the job. He did it the opposite way though. I wanted to make a tighter trigger bar to fit the frame of the fuck and take out the play, he made a bigger frame to fit the bar. Im pretty sure my way is less efficient, but it is definitely more DIYable. Unfortunately for this project, I've picked up a new girlfriend and her 2 kids so I've got less time than when I was working.if anyone is interested in picking up where I left off I can send details. I wasn't in this for the money. |
