| I hope this doesn't turn into a project but,
On a whim I put a bid on a new DPMS AR 15 5.56 and won. I knew the name and they have been around a while so I said what the heck... Long story short is Ive got one coming. I've read and heard pos/neg things such as springs wearing out after a few hundred rounds etc. Any advice and things to lookout for? |

A co-worker has one and he regularly shoots 100 round clips at a time and he has not said anything about springs needing to be replaced. What springs are you concerned with? I have taken a good look at my Windham Weaponry AR and to tell you the truth, there aren't many springs in there. I think my SP2022 has twice as many springs than my AR.

Hey Ken and thanks for the reply. I had heard, after I committed to the purchase, about something called "bolt bounce" after a few hundred rounds due to the springs being weak. A host of FTE FTF issues as well. Perhaps these guys got a batch of bad ones. If it's springs, easy to replace. I'm just new to ARs and wanted some input on DPMS overall. Thanks. |

Bolt bounce kinda sounds to me like their buffer weights are not matched to the gas inpingement system on their rifles. You may post the same question on AR15.com under the industry forum. DPMS is a member on the industry forum. Just beware of the General Discussion forum, it can get "nasty" in there. lol

Congrats. I fell in love with the AR15 in the Marines. Go out and enjoy it and don't let AR snobs get you down. If they give you any crap, just shoot at them a little.

I know many police departments that buy the DPMS AR-15s...I bet you'll be fine...except when talking 'round the water cooler about who's is better...and you know what THAT's worth... ![]() Bill |

| ![]() Im not worried about snobs or water cooler talk, I just want to put holes in paper in little tiny groups at 100 yards and have fun doing it. Thanks for the input all. |

Very nice!! there is a deputy here in my county that has a DPMS panther lightweight model. He has many rounds through it, shooting the tan camouflage wolf ammo with no problems. The name of the type of wolf ammo eludes me at the moment. Good purchase! Gotta LOVE AR's!
