Rear sight abuse?

This may be a dumb question, but, when practicing racking the slide with one hand, by catching the rear sight on the belt or any other object, is that hard on the rear sight? I mean a belt shouldn't hurt anything cosmetically, but will that loosen the sight over time, or slightly move them? I have the Sig P226 E2, so the rear sight is squared off enough for this technique. I just wanted to know because my wife only has the use of one hand and I like her to practice as such. But, my Sig is my baby,LOL! Let's see, the wife defending herself OR possibly damaging my Sig, decisions, decisions ..................JUST KIDDING.

I would think that there probably isn't enough spring tension on the slide to expand the dovetail on a stainless steel slide to loosen up your rear sight. If your rear sight moves with just doing that, then it is already too loose from the factory.
With the P226 to be a PROVEN combat pistol used by LEO and Military for many, many years, I think the rear sight is a little tougher than you think.

Yeah, I was mostly concerned with the possibility of movement from side to side. I didn't think it could do much. What, that's just a press fit holding that in there? It would take some doing to move it side to side.? Thanks for the input!

How often are you actually going to practice using this method?

I would think that your belt would wear out before your rear sights!

Good thing you don't have a Glock....(plastic sights)
