This is a discussion on P226 Shooting Low within the Gun Tactics forums, part of the Gun Forum category; Adding height to the rear sight will definetly bring it up and going from a 5 to 8 would probably get you close....

These are older night sights (look factory)?? Would I be best to just order the set or try to get a rear night sight? I really don't even care if they are night sights to be honest. I just want the point of aim to be the point of impact. |

| If your going with night sights I would say get a set, if not just get the rear. They also have the combat adjustable sights available.

Those are the sights that they have on the Elite Dark. SIGLITE® Adjustable Combat Night Sights P226 Elite Dark You will have to order them directly from SIG. I believe that they run around 136.00. |

If you are going to change sights you might want to look into a Warren Tactical Rear and a Dawson Fiber Optic front. With the Warren Tactical Rear, Dawson recommends their #8 fiber optic front. I went with a #7 and I'm dialed in with it. I've read from several other posts many people have a tendency to shoot low with the Dawson #8. If you go with that combo of Warren Tactical Rear and Dawson Fiber Optic front you won't be disappointed. I own two Sig P226 USPSA models with that set up and they are fantastic. It's also extremely popular sight combo for many shooters in USPSA Production division. |

Update I removed the grip tape that I had added on my frontstrap and I am back on target. I think that the grippyness of the tape was causing me to pull down. |

My problem was 12" low at 25 yards with my 2 year old P226. This came about suddenly. I sent it back to sig and they changed my rear sight to a #10. I had a #6 stock. So I now have the stock #8 front and #10 rear. Now it is back to its old self shooting where it is supposed to. The thing that baffled me was that this happened suddenly as I stated above. For almost 2 years I'm putting almost all shots in a 10" plate at 25 yards with no problem using the combat sight picture. One week ok, the next week, what the h_ll? |

My 220 was shooting low with a 6 front and 8 rear. CDNN sells the regular contrast sights really cheap so I bought a few different sizes. Took the sights and a sight pusher to the range and ended up with a 10 rear and a 8 front. That gave me a traditional sight picture.

Sig sights: as numbers go up, then so does impact, front sights get LOWER as numbers get higher. Opposite for rear sight where higher number equals higher sight and higher impact Error .357SIG or 9mm will use a #8 front and #8 rear - .40S&W and .45ACP will use a #6 front and #8 rear I have a 220 (45 ACP) #8/8 and 226 (40) #6/8. SIG should send the sights, if not Midway and CDNN sell them. I think the Springer XD also use the SIG Sights |

I only skimmed this thread and realize it is a few months old, but did anyone mention the correct sight picture? ![]() My understanding is that #3 is the correct sight picture for SIGs. |

I practice shooting at 3, 12, 18 and 20 feet. The rounds were hitting 4" low and to the left, but the grouping was good. My shooting partner (my son) noticed that I was pulling the gun ever so slightly. This was discovered when I added a Crimson Trace Laser to P239. By watching the laser he could see when I drop the front sites. I also corrected my grip. Being right handed, I added more left hand grip. So far so good.
