Hmm, it's probably safe and wouldn't damage anything, but I wouldn't use them because I don't want to be cleaning teflon out of my gun. Teflon begins to breaks down at just under 500 degrees, which is probably well under the tempurature inside the barrel during firing, so it's going to flake off the bullet and wind up fouling your bore and I have no idea how difficult it would be to get all of it out of the gun.

Which teflon coated ammo are you specifically talking about? Teflon has the second lowest coefficient of friction of any known material, so it might actually extend your barrel life.

Teflon or Nylon as in Federals Nyclad? Many years ago there was a teflon round called KTW that Congress outlawed by screeming COP KILLER!!! The fools said it could punch through soft body armor like it was not even there. What a bunch of crap. Its penatration was never proven nor was test results allowed to be shown to Congress. And no police officer was or ever has been shot with one. If I remember it was made to reduce lead vapor at indoor ranges the same as the Nyclad rounds did. Just the way it goes with the anti-gun crowd, take something that is made with safty in mind mislabel it demmonise it outlaw it pat themselfs on the butt and sing koom-ba-ya. ![]() Sorry rant off. |

Thanks for all your replies. There's a range here in manila selling teflon coated bullets. They claim that it will prolong the barrel life. It is a little bit more expensive, though.
