Animal, I think it would depend on your planned "use", and "needs". Do you want something that will eat M80 ball continuously, or will part a gnat's *** @ 800 meters.

I have no idea how good this gun is since I have never seen one in person. I talked to a guy at my local outdoor range the other day who had a Christensen Arms 6.5 Creedmoor and it was light. 6.4lbs and the gun looked great. I looked them up when I got home and seen this which only weighs 7.2lbs. I have only owned Sig and Daniel Defense Ar15's so far so I am no expert on AR type rifles. Daniel Defense should make good AR10's but probably not the best. I was looking at AR10's and SCAR-17s and ended up with a Springfield M1a national match and love it

This is not what you asked for, but I see no reason not to build one the way you want, it also saves you money in the long run....

Back a couple of years ago, when guns were scarce and "The BUMMER" was yapping about more stringent gun control, and possibly outlawing certain guns all together. I am not a big fan of the 5.56 x 45 but you do have to admit is is getting the job done. I wanted a 06 or 308. A PTR 91 came up and i scarfed it up at too high a price. I was also not in love with the AR platform in 308. Face too close to the business mechanisms. A good deal on a SOCOM 16 came by,and a trade in of the PTR ,walls, a good day for me. Was a happy camper. fast forward 12 or 13 months and along comes a killer deal on a SCAR 17s. Got a chance to shoot before buy, and now the proud owner. My AR platform is a SIG 516,piston driven 5.56x 45,a SOCOM -16 and the SCAR 17s. Now I am ready if TSHTF.

I have the 716 and 2 516's. I've tried other AR variants but prefer the Sig's. Mine are reliable and accurate straight out of the box. Groupings are in the range report forum.

Animal, going by your avatar... I'd say Military Grade... so to make it easier:
Knights Armament SR-25 E2 ACC or Lewis Machine & Tool LM8MWS
both 16" chrome lined barrels, both have supplied the military... Knights the US, and LMT the British.

We've enjoyed our AR10 rifle, and suggest everyone should have at least one!! AR's in 308 or other 30 caliber options are used in everything from SBRs to 20" barreled DMR roles. Like most folks, we started with AR15s and wanted a 30 cal AR to extent our effective range.

I like shooting piston ARs, and wanted to stay with the AR platform? So, FN's fine SCAR 17 wasn't a consideration. While SIG516 in both 10" SBR and 14.5" are our go to rifles in 5.56 - Primary Weapons Systems' MK216 was my 308 choice.

We've added a 20" Bartlien barrel, Gessele's DMR trigger and 4-16x Nightforce optic. This AR10 is now almost as accurate as our SIG SSG3000 bolt rifle.

The one I have is a S&W M&P Model 15 Sport.

It is the best since it is the only one I own. Does not have a dust cover or a forward assist. I never used those two features in Nam anyway.

Got it new in the box for my birthday close to two years ago for a whopping $515.00 plus sales tax.

I added an inexpensive scope, a sling, couple extra 30 round magazines and a few thousand of my own reloads to the arsenal.
