New Ed Brown Alpha Carry in house...

New Ed Brown Alpha Carry in Stainless going into EDC rotation. 600rnds thru the tube so far in two weeks with 100 being HSTs and not one single hiccup. Like a machine.

As received

Didn't like the grips too much so I got these off ebay, New Vz bobtail grips for $30! With new grips all dirtied up.....bad bad Brown......she is....

Good looking gun! I really prefer the looks dressed in the original Chainlinks. If they are too aggressive for you, could you sand them down a bit? A stainless 1911 with red-ish grips is the nut for me.

Enjoy, shoot it like you stole it!

Very nice! I'm not a fan of the Bobtail, but to each their own. Is a beautiful piece of machinery!

Funny you should ask? You a member on the 1911 forum?

I'm so used to the smooth front straps on my Colts that anything feels different.
I would like to just take the edge off the Chainlink. Seems like in stainless it's got quite the pronounced line in the scallops. Maybe the Gen3 or Gen4 coatings give just enough thickness to make this less noticeable?
I've found 30lpi to be my favorite and most comfortable.

I should take that off of you cheap! The front of it in the second picture is all dirty now and the edge of the slide looks grimy.

You don't want that!

I too am in the 'not really' group of fans for the bobtail design.
You can order a Commander sized gun from EB that is not bobtailed and the wait is really not that long. However the difference in price between this already built gun and a special ordered one was over $500. I could not find anyone who could order this gun non-bobtail anywhere close to what I got this one for which was only a bit more than a Dan Wesson and right under what my UTC cost me.

Very nice!! My LGS has one that I got a chance to handle. You will enjoy it.

I agree with Major Tom, I like the original grips.

Very sharp!
I like the original grips but I have to say the ones you chose look better.

Thumbs up

Congrats on the Brown. I'm in the group that happens to like the "bobtail" and have a few. Ha, but I'm also in the group that likes um all . I have quite a few sets of various VZ's, as well.

Thanks I only had to go thru like 71 pages of '1911 grips' before I found them.

I am looking for some nice wood to put on them.
This place makes really great products and they are reasonably priced.
Still haven't found that perfect grain yet.
