Nice! The M1A has always been on my list. Love the old school walnut, but then again the SOCOM black is pretty cool...

Btw, I'd give about anything to have a range like that around our neck of the woods!!
A guy I talked to at my local gun club mentioned a place around Wytheville, VA called Bang Steel that has 1000+ yard range. You have to take a weekend course before being allowed to rent the range and i guess its best to have a group. I would be willing to pay and go to the course to learn long range shooting and be able to rent the range other times. I think I read on here a while back about some guys from sigtalk shooting there but it might of been somewhere else

Yes! I remember that place!!
I know a guy that actually rang steel at 2k yards. I think he was using a .338 Lapua or maybe bigger...
But he lives around that area and uses a really nice scope too.
I remember when I had my Savage .308 and Vortex Viper FFP scope. 425 yards was childs play. I so wanted to find more yardage.

I've shot out to 800 open sights with a Super Match I owned years ago as well as with my scoped Remington bolt gun. The people in the videos like George make it look easy. It ain't!
I did score well on same size NRA targets. But I wasn't shooting out the X like they were.

Here's my current gun a Natl Match w/SS barrel the last time we had dinner together. I had the porterhouse and she had 10rnds of 175gr SMKs with a side of Hoppes and a shot of Rem oil.

Man, I dont know how I missed this post!
Thank you for taking the time to post a pic.
She's a beaut!
I need to order some more ammo. That's the only bad thing that I can think of about owning an M1A.
The ammo aint cheap.
I would've already gotten some more, but just had a 1,000 rds of .357 sig delivered today

I have a SOCOM 16. As you I do not care for the AR platform in 7.62, but then again I have a FN SCAR17s. If TSHTF I prefer th
e 7.62 over the 5.56 as long as I don't have too far to hike and not carry 400 rounds. Age has it's drawbacks.
Enjoy the SPRINGY, you will love it.
