I have two S & W 22C's I bought one for my wife when she wanted to start learning to shoot. We now have close to 40,000 rounds through it and the only thing that has happened is it went back for a new firing pin. "can't figure that one out" It shoots anything we run through it and breaks down very easy to clean it. It's a great trainer for the Shield since it's modeled to close to it. You can pick one up for around $300.00.

IMHO there isn't but choice for a fun gun in 22lr, the Ruger MK-IV.

Mark IV™ Rimfire Pistols

Eats most brands of ammo except sub-sonic. Most accurate round I've found is the CCI 40g Mini-Mag: CCI Ammunition - Product Detail

Besides being a dirty round, why is 22LR so difficult in a semi auto, besides the Ruger Buckmarks etc.

My wife is using a Browning Buck Mark 22 with a red dot. A accurate 22.
