IMI/Magnum Research Desert Eagle MK XIX

Brought home an IMI/Magnum Research Desert Eagle MK XIX the other day...

It came in to my LGS on trade and the price was too good to pass up. This one's chambered in .357mag, so I don't have to spend $1.50+ every time I pull the trigger although I do see myself eventually investing in the .50AE conversion barrel/bolt at some point. Took it out and put 100 rounds down range. Had to go to three different Wally World stores to find any .357mag ammo and all I could come up with was 50rds of 110gr Winchester white box and 50rds 125gr Remy UMC. Started out with a couple mags of the Winchester stuff and it had me worried 'cause I couldn't get more than one round off at a time. The ammo didn't have enough poop and was short stroking the slide. It just couldn't push that massive slide back far enough to catch the next round. Switched up the the Remy ammo and put all 50rds through it without a hiccup. Went back to finish off the WWB and to my surprise they all fed smoothly too. Guess it just needed to run for a bit. Didn't have a single jam or FTE through the entire 100 rounds. The recoil was a LOT lighter that I expected too. I was put'n a 9rd mag in a 3-4" group at 25yds so I'm very pleased with the way it shoots.

Thats a nice looking gun... the .357 model has always intrigued me since a friend of mine reloads all of my 357 for pretty dang cheap. Wouldnt mind a range report after youve gotten to put some more rounds through it. Happy shooting.

Thanks fellas.

It's a sweet shoot'n pistol. With the sheer weight of the gun, recoil is VERY manageable. Takedown and cleaning are a breeze too. I'm really happy with it so far.

Thats great to hear... i have heard before that the 357s were finicky with the cheaper factory stuff so you running whitebox and umc is good to hear that it actually cycled them.

Yes Sir,

It cycled through it all like a champ after a little break-in. I shoot a lot, so it's important to me that a gun can handle the cheap factory stuff that is readily available.

Very nice!! I am also in the market of picking up a DE as well. Just got to be patient and wait for a sweet deal to be local to me. Hopefully one will pop up sooner than later.

Picked up a holster for this big boy today...

Condor Outdoor: Tornado Tactical Drop-Leg Holster

Description :

- Wrap-Around design to fit pistols with laser or flashlight mount.
- Retention system with additional velcro strap to secure weapon.
- Fully adjustable leg strap with non-slip rubber lining and quick release buckle.
- One magazine pouch, with adjustable velcro strap.
- Will fit Medium or Large size pistol.
- Fully adjustable
- Color Options: O.D., Black, Coyote Tan, ACU

Tornado Tactical Leg Holster

A drop-leg rig was about the only thing that made sense to me for a pistol this big. It fits the MK XIX like a glove and to my surprise the oversized mag fits in the pouch too...

This rig is fully adjustable and will also fit my P220 or any of my other mid to full sized pistols.

I love the eagle. I saw one when I was 18 years old and dreamt of getting one.
I could never afford one new, so I kept my eyes peeled for years and years and years until one finally turned up at the right price on consignment at a gun shop, so I got it.
I finally got a nickel in 44 magnum. even my wife thinks its sexy.
