I'm looking into getting a shotgun for home defense. I have always been a Remmington 700 12 ha person for hunting. My son says that he feels the 500 is more adaptable. There is a $30 rebate on the 700, which would make it cheaper than the 500. The guy @ Walmart said that with the new home defense ammo the 20 ga is a viable alternative. They (Walmart) have a Mossberg 88 12ga w/20in barrel for $159, which is $20 cheaper than I have been able to find on a 500. I open to suggestions, even other alternatives.
