| .22 rifle heirloom
Was wondering if any one has any info on a springfield arms co. .22 short-long rifle. Other than the manufacturers stamp there is only a circled 14. It was passed from my great grandfather to grandfather to me. Dont really care about value because its worth a million bucks to me. Its the first gun I ever shot about 30yrs ago (I was 4 or 5) and I still shoot it today. Never bothered to do any research before but I let my 7yr old shoot for the first time and he is asking all kinds of questions now. Guys if you cant tell this is very important to me and the only thing special enough to pass on to my son. It be great to have some info to pass on as well. Cant thank you enough for any and all info.

Mike521, I have my grandfather's Springfield .22 short-long too!!! It is a clip fed bolt action and shoots pretty good. Still in good condition, but his very old single barrel shotgun is very worn. The shotgun was used to help feed the family. The only thing I know off the top of my head is they sold a ton of them and I can't remember the manufacturer. If you go to Numrich Arms (Gun Parts Corporation) they have a chart showing many of the popular, low priced rifles and who the oiginal manufacture was. Also, Numrich has a lot of parts for these rifles. |

Cool! Mine is single shot bolt action. The site you recommended was great found new nob for bolt but not much info. Did find out that the circled 14 is model number and that the 14.5 was produced from 1907 to 1942 so I assume mine is older. Also they were called the little scout and made for children.
