Like I've said before I respect Glocks and people who owe them just don't compare them to a Sig, it's like a V12 vs v6 yes both will get you to your destination but one is going to do it in style. look Sig is in a different class, you would not compare a BMW to a Toyota

Guns are made of metal. Toys are made of plastic.

I do respect what you're saying Sirsigalot. Maybe it's because the only Sig I own is a 2022, which is basically the Glock of Sigs. (Although I have field stripped a Glock and I must say, the internals for releasing the striker on the Glock seem really chinzy to me).

But I can't argue with Glock's legendary reliability. Do I think the Sig's better made? It sure feels better made, but define "better made". If it's by which gun still fires every time after 10,000 rounds have been through the pipe, I don't know that I can say the Sig's better made.

All I know is I really enjoy owning and shooting my "poor man's" Sig, and I just don't really begrudge anybody for choosing any other gun.

Well, maybe a S&W Sigma.

I think you have to ask yourself which would you trust to defend your family's life.
I own both brands and trust both as they have "earned" that trust
I don't care whether they are metal,plastic,titanium...whatever

Now as far as looks,well...sigs are superior in every aspect visually

I've shot Glocks and I own my sig as well as my XDm 45 and a S&W Sigmaaccuracy on a Glock is undeniable in my opinion but the ergonomics never felt right to me and just the feel of the gun itself felt cheap to me. My daughter took her first shot out of a Glock 19 but the polymer vs metal theory is an iffy subject to me. They all have their places it just depends on your own personal preference. The only reason I would buy a Glock is for the carbine conversion kits available for them so I wouldn't even be using them as a handgun. Sig also sells a carbine type setup that's supposedly fits any railed gun for 369 bucks that looks interesting but if I need polymer I'll stick to my Springfield. If it comes down to me defending myself and a Glock is in reach I won't hesitate to squeeze a round off with it either!

if you haven't noticed, many pd's are using plastic but not plastic like you grew up playing with.

This argument is like politics or religion. People spend lots of energy debating it, but nobody ever changes anyone else's mind.

They're both elite combat pistols with excellent accuracy, reliability, and durability. Beyond that it's a matter of personal preference. Let's move on.

Well here's a good question. What's the longest anyones owned their Glock in comparison to their ownership of a Sig? That would be interesting to me because I would think a metal pistol would tend to last a bit better in the long haul. Once again I own polymer and metal pistols so I'm just not sure of the life expectancy of the polymer but I feel I'll be passing my Sig and any future Sigs down to my grandchildren.

Polymer will pretty much last forever without rusting.

I'd say the biggest problem with a polymer gun? Try putting it in the oven on 350 and see what happens. Now try that with a metal gun, like my P226...

However, I still own both.

I own both as well and mine is the 226 as well. I'm just saying I see the Sig holding up better through the years than the polymer. Just my opinion. We'll see if I change my tune in 20-30 years!

I do tend to pamper my SIGs more, as I consider them extremely high quality, precision made pistols. Where the Glocks really shine is in their pure utilitarian construction, and virtual imperviousness to the elements. This is probably why the company has captured so much of the law enforcement market.

Yah, I would

A 70's car. Yup, easy to work on and fix. All built in the USA. I would if I could find a good one.

Sirsigalot here:
Come on, the only reason why law enforcement went with Glock is not because their so great of a gun its because their cheap and 4 the money you get an ok gun. Now I will say this Glock came out at a perfect time when you could no longer keep up with the high dollar gun lets go to the cheap ones. That's the real reason why Glock fanboys always try to torture test their Glocks because they have something to prove.

I would see glocks lasting longer than sigs. Polymer doesn't rust last time I checked. They are also less complex functionality wise than sigs.

re: Sig Sauer vs Glock Beef

I don't think it matters... No one can tell you which is better. The only person that can tell you that is yourself. Which one serves you better, what holds the important values you like, and what fits your requirements...

Personally I like Sig, does not mean I don't like nor would I never purchase a glock. But the reason why I purchased my Sig is it fit my selection criteria.

Let those that beef run with it... Seems to me my time would be better spent enjoying my selection rather than trying to convince someone why my decision is better than theirs... seems a little self serving no?

Applies to allot of things... Ford vs. Chevy, Apple vs. the world, Cable vs. Satellite.

You know what they say about opinions... everyone has one and they all stink.

[QUOTE=majorhavoc;47083]Sir, I will drink to that.

But only with a craft-brewed beer, because that tepid dishwater Bud calls "beer" sucks. [/QU I second the dishwater. Sam Adams makes a nice brew along with Fosters. Another thing,I don't want no damn lime in mine either. Lock & Load a SIG Stay, safe my friend!

I'm still trying to make my mind up bout the 787 and I'm a 9 level USAF aircraft mech. When they get 50 years of combat flying on them at max loads like the KC 135 then I will reevaluate.
