I'll hold my comments on the Sig/Glock comparison as I have never fired a Glock. The other aspect of this thread on the other hand, when a polymer gun hits the 100+ year mark with out fatigue or deterioration I might change my tune on it. I know first hand of a few fully functional and reliable 100+ year old 1911's I would trust with my and my families life.

The only reason the Glock vs. Sig argument stirs up emotions is because Sig fans are in denial about the superiority of the Glock platform. Besides, it doesn't even make sense to compare two completely different platforms, a DA/SA pistol and a striker fired. A better comparison would be Sig 226 vs Taurus 809. You've been trolled. |

Which do you load and wager your family's lives on? Sig/Glock... each has a special place. Glocks by the bedstand and trunk safe. Sigs on the hip and range bag.

From an appearance standpoint I have a clear preference. I follow this forum. There are more important reasons I prefer SIG Sauer, but in the end though, it's like endlessly comparing and contrasting ketchup and mustard. They both go boom very dependably. After that starts the red vs yellow, sweet vs tart, squeeze bottle versus jar, etc. Just like a horse race, ya gotta have different contenders to make a choice. Good news is it's pretty easy to guess where some threads are headed, and decide whether to follow or close... |

Frankly, I think it's kind of goofy getting wound up about two excellent service pistols. shoot what you like, like what you shoot. How difficult is the concept? Glock v. Sig or Sig v. Glock is a web troll flag, IMO. Polymer inherently inferior? Nah, can't buy into it. Glocks have been standard issue for several military and police forces since they arrived on the scene. I know guys who have worn them daily for uniformed police use for decades now. They're perfectly comfortable carrying them. Last edited by MGF; 12-04-2012 at 08:02 PM. |

I'd still feel more secure with some metal in my hand over polymer anyday. If I run out of ammo I can just pistol whip somebody with it and the gun should still function when I run across some ammo! On the zombie apocolypse scenario if I only had 7 rounds of ammo I'd still take the Kimber over the Glock because if ya smash a zombie head with it its just as good as puttin a bullet in it! |

Although lost on many here, Glock vs Sig vs 1911... all tongue-in-cheek. Tastes great, less filling. At least we all know that Sig/ Glock > M&P.

It's a beef because too many people can't just say, "I disagree" and walk away. Sig owners pay too much money when they get a Sig, and want to quantify the excess spending. Glock owners get a Glock when they're feeling cheap, and want to justify being chintzy. As far as I'm concerned, they are in completely separate classes. There are so many differences that it's almost impossible NOT to prefer one over the other. Unfortunately, for a generation that hasn't mastered the concept of want versus need...there's very little hope that affinity versus ability will ever fall in the pool of understanding for some folks. They'll argue why their pistol is better than yours all morning, because at the end of the day: they paid money for it. |

To Arclight610: Good mourning sir, Sirsigalot here. The only thing Glock is superior at is a tupperware showing on the QVC CHANNEL . Everyone knows that German/Swiss engineering has always proven to reign suprem.

Personally I think some pimple faced kid sitting in his parents basement in his underwear sucking down Mountain Dew with nothing else to do but stir up trouble on some forum is not going to go away. I personally shoot all my guns reasonably well and enjoy them all, I am not brand loyal. I shoot the 1911s better than anything else with the Sigs a very close second, but the SA XDS is my usual go to carry gun because overall it is the best for me, everything factored in. But I do carry each one from time to time as mood, clothing, circumstance dictate. So, after all that, no I do not let somebodies opinion influence me unless I know them and/or respect their opinions as in some magazine writers. |
