NO! Hammers have more parts, and therefore are more subject to failure to extract!

I heard a rumor that the Gen 4 wedges that hold the Head to the Handle are now made in North Korea, so I wouldn't bet my life on one.

The point is...

Get what WORKS for you. If it fits your hand that's a big deal. The technical stats are nice, but we all know there are junk guns out there (I'm not going to start that fight and put down names), and there are good guns. Glock is a good, solid gun that has proven itself to be very reliable. There are other guns made with higher value materials and demand a higher price as such, SIG being one. Due to materials used by a manufacturer there are specs they must follow to produce a safe reliable product, hence the "blockiness" of Glock. I personally don't like plastic guns, the feel, grip, recoil etc. If you do that's fine, it was your money to spend. As long as you are safe, accurate and responsibly possess that firearm I'm for you. Products of industry fall into different categories, utilitarian and aesthetic being but two and neither being mutually exclusive of the other, meaning you don't have to sacrifice one for the other. Glock is very utilitarian, that's good. I find SIG on the other hand to possess both qualities and to a higher level and as such put my hard earned money there. To conclude, for some it is function, for others, it is Form (elevation of an art) and function. That is a personal call.

I've shot a lot of guns and the two in question both perform well for what they were designed for. Either choice is a performer. I do prefer a tighter tolerance design which i feel is in Sig, but in need, I would put my confidence in either.

Here's written testament to the superiority of Sig over Glock. Glocksters may not want to read this.

I have never seen a real scientifically done survey along demographic lines but it seems to me that people who were old enough to be able to buy a Glock when they first came out are the generally same people who don't own Glocks and prefer metal pistols. 30 somethings are just the opposite, preferring Glocks to all others.
People with more disposable income seem to tend to prefer pistols other than Glocks........with HK's being preferred if a poly pistol must guard the single malt, but HiPowers and 1911's are usually on duty. Glocks are the shot and a beer pistol.

It would be interesting to see a real demographic breakdown.....

I'm sure both manufacturers could tell you what the demographics are. I think it is a bit more complex and I believe income plays a big role here.

Personally, I own a SIG P226 and a G19. I bought the SIG first and I prefer the SIG. I'm a 30 something.

I'll admit, I'm a novice. So, my opinion means a little less than most...

I don't have anything against Glock. I grew up in Smyrna, GA and always heard great things about Glock "the hometown" gun. I've never fired one, but I held a few when I was shopping for my first pistol.

IMO I don't like the angle and feel of the handle, or how the Glocks looks...though I know "looks" matter least.

I love everything about my 2022. I'm already looking forward to my next pistol though. It is very unlikely I will buy a Glock, but I maybe someday.

My Glock and my Sig spoon each other in my safe.

The Sig reminds me of the crazy, high maintenance ex-girlfriends I've had.

The Glock reminds me of my reliable, caring and loving wife.
