Now is the time for communication. Contact your Rep's both state, and federal, and let them know where you stand, and that we as legal firearms owners we know our responsiblity, but it those who obtain firearms illegally that are the threat. That is the threat that needs to be addressed with education. How to help those with mental and social issues, and to help firearms owners know what the signs are that someone has an issue and what they can do to get that person help. We all want to trust our loved ones and friends, but this trust shouldn't be blind. If a firearm isn't in use then it should be secured. Securing and limiting access also limits the chance that a firearm can be used illegally.

writing them is a waste of time, they don't give a shit what constituents want after they're elected.

if you think they do, you're dreaming.

tell you what, write a letter & when you get a reply, post both of 'em.

what you'll get back will be some horseshit reply that whomever will look into it & then you'll vote for him/her next time.

i did it years ago, sending mail/email did nothing, so now i don't bother.

but you keep writing whiny letters to them, thinking they care.

Buy nothing now. Just wait.
Save your pennies and buy 2 guns in the summer for the cost of one today.

I saw at one LGS a Ruger LCP marked up to $850.. and someone bought it

When we fight back and point out how ineffective the Clinton ban was they will say it was our fault it failed because we didn't allow it to go far enough.
Bans are being pushed hard at the state level also and this will be used on a national level to "prove" support far a national ban.

We are in for a fight regardless of the makeup of the House and Senate. We must not allow ANY compromise. That is a very slippery slope.

W
Hogwash and just more of the same fear mongering. There isn't enough support for another AWB in the House. Feinstein and her leftist cronies can push their agenda all they want but public polls are showing that an outright ban isn't what's needed. The issues at hand are security, both of the weapons themselves in the home, and security of public buildings and of mental health. These are the issues that will be concentrated on most in the debate on gun control in the current session of Congress. Feinstein will introduce her garbage bill while holding up a "weapon of war" to make her point again and it will be considered and rejected in the House. There it will die the death it deserves and then serious debate on the two issues I pointed out can begin.

I'll be keeping my firearms, thank you very much. Go ahead and take them off the shelves I say!!! The criminals will NEVER be able to get them! Shootings will drop to 0 and MURDER will drop to an ALL TIME LOW!!!! We will be able to leave our doors unlocked at night and let our daughters walk to dimly lit alleyways armed only with a small flashlight! Convenience store owners, fear not!!!! THIS IS THE GREATEST THING TO HAPPEN TO THIS COUNTRY SINCE WE TALKED OUR WAY INTO INDEPENDENCE FROM THE BRITISH!!!!

*Please note the BLATANT sarcasm*

FWIW one of my sons was a Senate Page and congressmen and senators absolutely do pay attention to emails and letters. One email may not have much clout but a bunch of them carry weight. About 60% of a politicians time is spent getting re-elected...and what his electorate thinks on issues resonates with a politician.

great idea but too many staffers see what comes in & place most of it in the circular file before the senator ever sees it.

case in point, john mccain is a perfect example; ex-navy, pow but not veteran friendly.
his staff stops stuff he doesn't want to see.

i know many vets who've submitted complaints, wanted assistance & never heard anything.

Although gun prices have risen recently out of fear and greed (No ban in effect). The same thing happened in 2009 and prices never really went back down. Either way, buying now or waiting is a gamble.

Wake up all you gun haters and realize that when you enact gun control, you simply shift the balance of power on the street to the criminals, who will always have guns. You cannot hire enough police to protect you when criminals know the law abiding are unarmed. Just ask citizens of Chicago who suffered through 513 murders in 2012. By comparison 136 soldiers were killed in Afghanistan in 2012. So with all the strict gun control in Chicago, the Chicago Police and Mayor Rahm Emanuel allowed nearly FOUR TIMES MORE Americans to be murdered than soldiers killed in a war zone!
