That's one thing about buying used, you don't know how many rounds have gone through the weapon, or how it was shot. I saw a guy at a range who showed up with a bunch of ammo and a nice P226R in 9mm in the box. He told me it was new and the gun dealer told him he needed to give it a good cleaning, and then break it in with several hundred rounds of ammo. I went to my lane, and started shooting my P229R. I could hear him doing a lot of shooting. After sometime of quiet on his lane, and I had finished putting some rounds down range, I hear "can you help me". He told me he didn't like it and was going to take it back. When I asked why he told me it kept jamming (FTE) on him. I asked to look at it, he had cleaned it dry. I broke down the weapon and didn't see any damage, and showed him where to lube/oil the weapon, and how I do a break in on a new weapon. We spent the rest of the afternoon shooting, cleaning, and making sure it was running smooth. He had no further problems, a very soar finger and loved the weapon.

He bought lunch...That worked for me.
What got me was the gun dealer just selling the gun and telling him to clean it and break it in. People who are new to firearms need to be told what they need to do. If I know someone is buying a firearm for the first time I tell them to read and learn about it, and think of it as a new car. I'll even offer to go to the range with them and help them out. There is more to it then just operating it, you have to care for it, maintain it, clean it, and be responsible with it.

For a great steel/ alloy framed alternative to Sig that doesn't cost as much, I have a CZ 75B and a CZ 75D Compact. They're nice shooters and cost about half of what a Sig goes for.
