Agree with you on all counts. Proficiency is the word I should have used, and I'd definitely be more comfortable if everyone around here had to demonstrate some of it before they could conceal, or even open carry for that matter--to open carry in VA you don't even need any kind of permit.

I usually shoot at 25 yds. The game guns get 50.

Texas uses the standard B27 silohuette target for the CHL.
It is structured. My instructor told us how many to load in our mags and we fired upon command.

What are you shooting with? And perhaps it may be time to consider an upgrade?
Hi.

shoot with ?
Glocks ,, several
Beretta , one
Kimber several
Sig Sauer , several
Ruger , several
S&W , several
STI , one

EDC ,,,
Holster : Kimber Solo ( when not sent back to Yonkers for repair )
and Sig P 938

Pocket : Sig P 238 .

It seems I shoot the Ruger Mark II the most , on a limited budget

and then I like to run a couple of mags thru my carry gun

and then the Glocks , just to practice for the actions shoots our clubs hold .

how about you , your routine ?

DEPENDS ON YOUR EYE SIGHT. I am over 60 so its hard for me to see the front sights clearly when wearing glasses for distance. So for practice I shoot at 10 meters where free hand I can get 3 inch groups pretty much with a combat pace. For distance 25 yards from a rest usually to test sights or when putting new sights on. I can get center mass shots freehand at 25 yards but would be lucky to get a head shot. For you young guys getting old sucks. Enjoy your youth and good eyesight while you can.
This is why you see a lot of older guys shooting rifles.
