So the open carry issue is about to be brought back up to the Texas legislature this month. What are my felloow Sig owners thoughts?:)

I am all for it on the basis that if you just happen to print or expose your weapon, you wouldn't face reprocussions.

Haven't heard anything about it. I'm in the north DFW area. I'm from AZ originally. Remember seeing people with sidearms in Safeway and other ordinary locations. Whatever. I do recall wondering should I keep my pistol on the dashboard or seat vs. keeping it under the seat. If I'm not mistaken, back then concealed carry was illegal, but not open.

.
can't see any need for it - would not be "for" it

In the minority here, but I'm personally not a big fan of open carry, at least in an urban environment. Out hunting? Sure, and it makes sense to me there. Concealed carry - a big thumbs up.

My understanding is that in California you can OC, but that the gun has to be unloaded. Is that true in any of the other states that allow open carry?

***--unloaded???

As others have mentioned, anyone can open carry in VA without a permit. I've only ever seen someone do it once though. He was shopping in the meat section at a WalMart and everyone around him was uncomfortable.

I'm for open carry, but the few states that allow it sometimes have a problem with informing their police force that it is legal. Never had a bad run in with a LEO, because I conceal, but I have heard horror stories where OCers were drawn down on and disarmed while LEGALLY open carrying.
