After living in Phoenix for 23 years I've learned to prepare for the unexpected, mag/ammo malfunctions, excessive heat, etc. Regardless of what I'm carrying I have 4 spare reloads available, the Stock just happens to be a hi cap.

I will admit that it's fortunate that I live in a desert climate now, if I still lived near the lakes and rivers that I grew up with, I'd be an anchor.
A 6'3" 350lb anchor, yep, straight to the bottom.

I carry two reloads. I figure if I can't solve my problems, whether it be multiple attackers or malfunction clearance, with three magazines, then I'm either doing something wrong or I need to grab a long arm.

i moved to phoenix in '82 & can't ever remember a situation where a civilian got involved in a major shootout with anyone firing any where near to 80 rounds + what's in firearm.

go in the shitty parts of phoenix after dark, you gotta be looking for trouble, be a white guy & trouble isn't far away.

The problem with the Phoenix area is that you don't have to go anywhere to look for trouble, it comes to you often enough. I use to live a block from the Cricket Pavillion and I couldn't tell you how many people were killed in the QT parking lot next door.

I don't base my carry gear on what others may or may not have experienced, I just try to be prepared for the worst. Something that you must do if you spend anytime out in the boonies here.

And like I already mentioned, the Stock mags just happen to be hi caps. When I carried a 1911, the four spare mags were only 8 rounds apiece.

Now if you want to talk about too much firepower (is there such a thing) here's a pic of my "one in every room" gear.

cricket pavilion is right one of the worst parts of indian country in phoenix.

indianschool south to i-10, i-17 west to the 101/99th ave.

most of the businesses have bars on the windows & mostly low riders parked in the neighborhood.

understood, not a wonder you were in danger.

I took quite some time in deciding what to implement for home defense and a 7.62X39 was about the last cartridge I considered but seeing as how LA gang bangers took over the two story house across the culdesac from mine, I was thinking more along the lines of "two birds with one stone".

Kudos to you, then. I move around too much. I couldn't handle all that. Not to say I wouldn't like to!

Benchmade spring assisted Marage (I think). Got it at half price which is still too much, but I love it.
