I live at the beach and wear cargo shorts and tee shirts 3/4 of year. Is the 229 easy to conceal carry with lite summer clothing and if not, what are some things I can do to mitigate carrying the 229 so it's less visible with summer clothing?

Appreciate the assist,

Valistar

Valistar,

Depending on your body type you might be able to pull it off. I typically carry my M11A1 which is the same as the P229. I wear it is a MTAC IWB holster at the 4 o'clock position. I can conceal it pretty well wearing a Columbia/UA fishing shirt pretty well. If it is too hot and I don't want to wear an undershirt, then I will choose a different gun. You may want something a little smaller for those summer months.

Thanks mate! Although I've got a huge crush on the P229 at the moment I'm thinking a better option would be the P320 compact with a sub-compact change kit. With that combo I've got a winter and summer carry for roughly the same price of the 229, but man I love the look and feel of the 229 and I have to give up SA/DA for striker fire, this decision is making my head hurt!

For any 229 Elite carriers out there, have you had any issues with that beautiful beaver tail stabbing you in the side while CCW?

The beavertail on my P229 Elite Stainless is a mile long, but I'm not carrying the pistol. If you want to stay with DA/SA, another pistol that I would highly recommend that's concealable and also very affordable is the CZ P-07. Granted, it's not a subcompact, but it does feel considerable narrower than the P229 or P320.

Hi and welcome from KY

I carry a P229 Legion in .40 SW and have no issues and really love the pistol. Did you mention you Carry a 1911? what one do you have? Looking to pick one up myself (or P220/7) lol
