P229 Legion

This is my first post. I've tried searching the forum for an answer to my question. But, have had no luck. I own a P938 and have found it makes a great pocket pistol. I'm seriously considering a P229 Legion, but have a question. Looking on the Sig website's list of P229 Legion models. They show a 229R-9-Legion with a 10 red magazine and an E29R-9-Legion with a 15 red mag. Similar differences for the 357 and the 40.

Sig website calls them both a P229 Legion Compact. What's the difference? Maybe I'm missing something obvious. I'm just trying to understand. Hope you'll have some patience with a newbie. Thanks in advance for your help.

Some are sold with 10 round capacity mags for state law compliance.

Welcome from AL!

The only difference is the mag capacity. If you live in a state that has a restriction you will get the 10rd version vs the normal 15rd mag.

Dang I should have considered that! And thanks for the welcome. My EDC is a 1911 and an increased capacity is definitely a deciding point. Thanks for being patient.

Welcome from "Kansas Rural."

I have a P938 Extreme that I got a week ago. It's a very nice gun and a great shooter.

I have a P229 Legion 9mm that I got 6 or 7 weeks ago. Another nice gun and a great shooter.

Why not have both?

Welcome from Arkansas where the open carry law is as ambiguous and hard to understand as political promises, so I conceal carry.
P229 Legion is a great firearm. You would be happy with it. You might as well save up for the P226 because you will buy it next.

Welcome!

The P229 is technically the "compact" pistol in the P-series lineup as the P226 is the full-frame model. There is only one size P229... and it will be my next Sig!

I tested the P229 Legion and it's a very nice pistol... settled on a P229 SAS Gen 2 because I liked the roundings of corners/edges and such, and frankly paid about as much as I would have for a Legion. One thing I did not like was the grip and the beavertail on the Legion; I prefer the more 'compactedness' of the SAS, as it will be my carry...
