No detailed review. They are rail lights. They both work. Neither one has come loose while shooting when tightened properly. HL is brighter. (600 v.s. 800)

Edit: I don't shoot them with the lights on regularly. I just test fired with them on to see how they would perform. I noticed no wear on the Legions at all.

I don't like shooting with them.... it's not like I am breaching anything. They are for home defense and other uses.
Sterling Archer and ScalpeL28 like this.

How well did it fit the rails? I have been hearing in does not clamp on very well. The lights will be pointing slightly upwards.

I have a Surefire X400 attached to my AR, I have been thinking of trying to mount it on my P229 Legion.

They both fit fine.

I researched both, and bought the Streamlight first. I found a good deal on this new X300 and tried it. Both fit just fine.

The reviews I found on both are subjective. That's why I didn't review the pics I posted. Internet reviews are mostly worthless to me.

Buy, try, and be happy or be ticked.

Both lock up just fine, neither are misaligned or anything. I did see a small scratch on my .40, but it's metal on metal wear. Same thing happened on my Colt Railgun 1911. Not gonna cry about it. It still goes bang.

People will always find stuff wrong with anything to get attention and post counts.

Buy what you want, use it, and be happy or sad.

I like both. For the money... Streamlight wins.... (I have many SureFire products..) but we will see over time. I have never had a SureFire fail on me though. So time will tell.

Good luck bud!

I don't know if they have changed them but I had a X400 on a 229 for a while until I noticed it didn't really fit right, was cocked up against the trigger guard. I took it off and put on a TRL-2, put the surefire on an AR

I've wanted the X300U for some time, but for a first light, I was not ready to pay $225+.

I just picked up the TLR1-HL from Amazon (sold and fulfilled by Amazon) based on all of the reviews a couple of weeks ago for $98 (one of those weird times they significantly drop the price for like a day!)... the next day it was back up to $138. I have not had the chance to mount it to any of my pistols, but the controls are nice and simple and that 800 lumens is super bright!

Is one light wider than the other, when mounted on the firearm? Thank you.

My x300 does that on my legion, my streamlights fit fine.

I have owned a TLR-1HL for three or four years and shoot with it often with no issues. Mine is the older 600 lumen version.

My department just issued us P320's full size in .40 and a TLR-1HL 800 lumen. I'll be putting a lot of ammo down range with this gun and light so we will see how well it holds up to long range sessions.

I wish I had this set up last November when I took an advanced firearms class through my department. We fired 1000 rounds in four days just in pistol ammo. I couldn't tell you how many shotgun rounds we went through because we loaded up as many shells as we could carry and hit the course firing, reloading quickly and repeat. Rifle ammo was about 200 rounds.

For reference. Both appear to be the same width (body). The lens is bigger on the TRL-1HL.
