Hogue after market grips don't fit the legion series

Had an interesting conversation with someone in cs at hogue today regarding their aftermarket g10 grips. While I realize they make the grips for the legion, the cs person told me that if you were to order any of the extreme/aluminum g10 grips from hogue, they would not fit the legion. Her reason was the internals being slightly different would not allow the grips to fit properly.

That was news to me and I wasn't aware of that. Maybe this was discussed here and I missed that but I thought that was a little odd. While I do like the legion grips there are a couple of the hogue grips that I would have considered but I guess not now. She said maybe in the future they would make aftermarket grips for the legion but the typical grips they sell for the 229/226 are not compatible to the legion series.

Anyone else aware of that? Anyway thought I would share that bit of info.

I guess it doesn't surprise me that they're not compatible, but what throws me is her comment about the "internals" being the reason.

I would have guessed it was the low-profile de-cocker and slide-stop levers being different and engineered closer to the frame of the pistol.

Or maybe that's what she meant, who knows?

I imagine it will be a long ways off (if ever), but Sig/Hogue could make a boat-load of dough by making/selling "Legion" grips that fit the rest of the P-Series lineup. Maybe after the Legion madness fades, huh?

I hadn't heard that, but I'm thinking that what she meant to reference wasn't actually the internals as the issue, but rather the use of the low profile slide catch and decocking levers that are sourced from the P224 that cause the problem.

I was told by a SIG customer service rep, back in spring, that Checkered G10s are coming soon for all P-Series SIGS. By end of 2016.

This is good news. I just hope the checkering is sharp. I like a grip that grabs me back.

BUNK!

WTH are they talking about at Hogue CS? I bought the same set of Hogue G-Mascus G10 Chain Link-pattern grips for a standard P226 for both my Legion P226 and TACOPS P226, on eBay no less but the same part number as on the Hogue website for that model of grip. Fit right up no problem and works a peach. The slide stop is close to the grip, but I made ZERO modifications and have over 1,000 rounds through the Legion and no problem.

See for yourself:

I was waiting for someone to chime in that actually did this. I got the feeling in speaking with the cs person they didn't know what they were talking about. It just didn't make any sense. Thanks for posting the pics.

My guess is they are covering their end in case they don't fit the legion's smaller controls (slide lock and decocker). I'm willing to bet they grips will fit just fine (as proven above). Worst cast, a little dremeling to the grips oughta do the trick.
