Are home invasion robberies common in mostly disarmed SF?

Thats the thing, gun free zone = easier for criminal. Lately it's been 2 back to back home invasion in quiet neighborhoods.

Welcome to the forums from CA.

You'll like the sp2022 in .40 S&W. It's a very dependable shooter.

I'm surprised you still have gun ranges in San Fran. In my town, about 72 miles South of you, our city counsel banned gun shops and firing ranges within city limits. Sports Stores, of which we only have one, Big 5, are only allowed to sell long guns, no handguns or "Weapons of War" and ammo is very limited here. The only shooting range, just outside of city limits, is for Law Enforcement use only. I have to drive 30 miles to the nearest gun range and it's an indoor range that is relatively small, poorly lit and expensive.

Welcome from the SoCal desert! I have the 2022 in .40 as well and love it. I hear San Fran is a very nice city to visit. My fiancée made it up that way a few times when we were at school in Fresno.

Thanks for the warm welcome.

SF is a beautiful city for sure, just that the people who's running it tends to be on the idiotic side. I have both hate & love relationship with this city.

Theres 1 last gun shop in the city, however the city was able to close it down at 1 point, but it's still standing, albeit a small store.

The closest shooting range would be around Lake Merced area which I've heard is mainly for skeet shooting. The next closest would be about <10 miles from my place and thats where I'm heading tomorrow.

The game with the Falcon was definitely a close one. Looks like Vegas wanted both SF team to win both major sport leagues

I assume you're referring to the LOS ALTOS ROD AND GUN CLUB? Nope...that's 61 miles North of me. It's a nice range but it only goes out to 100 yards for long guns and it costs $16 per person p/day. I can do that for free in the Griswold Hills Recreation Area on BLM land which is roughly 45 miles in the opposite direction. It takes about the same amount of time to get there as the Los Altos Gun Club because of the windy road through the Griswold Hills.

I need to find a place where I can out to at least 500-600 yards...that would be heaven .

Hello, Yohl, and welcome from Missouri to a really great forum. Good people and info here! I also have the SP2022 in 9, find it extremely accurate with all types of ammo, and super quality value for the cost.

Since you are new to this handgun, self defense arena, consider taking some good self defense classes. I also recommend you check out the many free YouTube videos made by Massad Ayoob, a world-class instructor in handgun use and self defense, who has recorded training sessions in Judicious Use of Force, Shoot to Live, Home Invasion, Preparation for Home Defense, and What to Do After a Shooting. Just Google his name and these topics and the YouTubes should show up. Very good instructional information from an expert, and free.

Here is a very good technical review of self defense ammo:
Best Choices for Self Defense Ammo

This is an informative review by a doctor of different gunshot wounds effects:
Doctor Talks About Gunshot Wounds

Take care, and best wishes to you and yours!
